Resignation Obligations
by greensleeves
I was actually in a very similar position once - I was one of the few females at a firm that was blatently engaging in sex discrimination. While LW has no legal obligation, I believe it is in the best interests of the company she is leaving to make an appointment to speak to the highest person she needs to - including the chair of the board - who will listen. Her supervisor and all who tolerate his behavior are threatening the future of the organization. If she doesn't sue, some other employee probably will. Besides getting it off her own chest, it is a favor to her ex-company to give those in charge a heads-up while there is still time for them to do something about it. If top management is any good, they will welcome the information. If they are not any good - that's probably a well known fact in whatever industry they are in, and she really doesn't have anything to fear. Again, approach it as "I care about this company, I'm grateful for the opportunities, and you guys really need to discuss this issue and take some action."
No Resignation Obligations

If the company is indeed a listing POS, as I imagine it is, I say scew 'em. You owe them NOTHING, not even the help of telling them how your manager sucks rocks.

If the powers that be don't already know they are idoits, if they do they obviously dont give a hot crap.

She might feel better but for what, helping clean up a place that helped make her life suck? I prefer to jump ship and then make sure people who say "why did you leave" get a clear "well, sigh, it was just not the best, ummm, enviroment, if you catch my drift...." response. No need to be ugly, but no need either to help out a place that would keep senior creep around either.

Course I would have already been fired for shooting off my mouth at the creepster, so I guess it's kind of a moot point.

If they're such sexist idiots, why care about the company? They've let a sexist atmosphere continue ... you have no obligations to help them. It's not like they didn't realize that what they were doing could eventually get them into trouble.

If the people higher up on the corporate ladder don't know whats going on, then they're bad bosses and deserve what happens. If they do, they're part of the problem.
