Why Should She?
by headhunt33

She has asked for, and recieved, 100s of millions of dollar from her supporters. Why should she back out on them, when the nomination is still very much up in the air.

It doesn't take too vivid an imagination to see Rezko allegations taking the shine off of Obama (and an ethics scandal would sink Obama). If he fades fast and his wife continues to be a massive harpy, it will certainly five the super delegates pause.

Obama is just now getting vetted after a year of suck up press. HRC should wait and see what surfaces up.

The Rezko story is to Obama what Whitewater is to Clinton. Much ado about not much.

And the the nomination is not "still very much up in the air." The Washington Post reported this morning that Clinton would need to win all the upcoming elections by 60% to beat Obama in pledged delegates, which is something she has managed to do only once - in Arkansas. And although it is unlikely she will overtake him on pledged delegates, neither Obama nor Clinton will get the requisite total to confirm their nomination, which leaves the super delegates to make the final decision.

If the super delegates somehow convince themselves that Hilary is their best hope in November, they would be shooting the Democratic party in the foot because it guarantees Hilary will lose the South as the black vote would most likely sit out the election in protest, and it's only with the black vote that Democrats get any real sway in the South.

Unless of course she chooses Obama for VP to help stanch the bleeding, which is something everyone, up till now, has considered as unlikely to ever happen because a double minority ticket seemed too risky. And it probably still is in the minds of most people. But even if that were not a factor, there is still the issue that it’s a Clinton running.

Have we forgotten that the Clintons are hugely unpopular with a large segment of the population? The thought of Bill and Hillary back in the Whitehouse will galvanize them to come out to vote for McCain (even if they don’t think he’s the best Republican) just so they can vote against Clinton. After all, Gore would have won in 2000 if it wasn’t for the taint of the Clinton scandals. The economy was good, the world was relatively peaceful; everything pointed to a third term of Clinton-style Democratic policies as being a shoe-in. But it wasn’t.

Let’s face it, if Obama is the Democratic choice, he will face some hurdles, but he will bring in a lot of new voters to the party. If Clinton is the nominee, some Democrats will just stay home in November, while the Republicans, who might not otherwise be so enthusiastic about John McCain, will come out in droves to vote against her.

That’s why Clinton needs to think about stepping out. With Obama, the Democrats stand a fighting chance. Without him, they practically hand the presidency to McCain.

What reading I have done, and what I have learned about Chicago politics suggests there may be more to Rezko than meets the eye.

The good thing for Obama, is that it is very complicated (like Whitewater) and the press isn't smart enough to understand it, or will be complicit in burying it, in a way they never would for a Republican candidate.

You have no idea how a general election would turn out. From the looks of things Obama is the weaker candidate against McCain. He has only one way to go -- down -- because at some point he'll scrutinized by the press, with unsavory ironies embedded in him evident. Wait till the press sees how petulant he is in response.

Clinton has by far more foreign policy credentials, even a huge array of general and flag officers supporting her. Obama can't even hold a hearing of the committee on Afghanistan/NATO he chairs.

Besides his lack of international experience, the ironies involving him will be explored, and in depth, and you will see the sore lackings.

He uses a banker (Pritzker) to run his campaign, and her bank imploded a few years ago, due to subprime mortgage failures, resulting in great harm to low-income people, the very people whom Obama supposedly supports. Then there's Rezko in Chicago whom Obama claimed he only did five hours of work for in his law firm. We find out there's been a 17-year history with Rezko, known to buy politicians by investing in their caeers through campaign donations, and Rezko gave hundreds of thousands ofdollars to Obama, who also has not revealed how close a friend Rezko is to him. Obama did nothing about the tenants who got no heat in Rezko buildings. Why? Not to mention Obama's ties to the Crown family, at the expense of Maytag workers whom he did nothing for in Chicago.

Or the fact the man never stands up for anything, for anyone. Not only the above failure to advocate for worthy causes and people, but he backed down on regulating the nuclear industry, and putting checks on lobbyists. What, lobbyists can lobby in Congress -- as long as they're standing. What is that?

His constant cries of racism through surrogates whenever he's jabbed at and his attempts to smear Clinton with everything in the book, not to mention his two-facing on Nafta, shows he is not new politics, but very, very old politics indeed.

We haven't even gotten to his weak credentials in foreign policy area.

Hopefully he'll withdraw in June.

I created an account just to respond to these specious Clinton talking points.

The idea that Clinton has foreign policy experience is all smoke and mirrors -- name one achievement Clinton has produced in the area of foreign policy. What I've seen instead is that at the debate in Ohio last week, all she could say about Russia is that Putin controls everything (thanks, my little sister is at that level analysis) and that she couldn't produce the name of his successor; she actually said "Mmm--whatever his name is." Obama followed up the same question with a nuanced exposition of the tensions in the regions with the Soviet satellites, and touched on the role of human rights in foreign policy. Clinton talks a big game, but anyone who has been watching the debates knows that Obama has the actual substance on foreign policy. This is all on youtube if anyone cares to decide for yourself.

Clinton is clearly desperate to be trumping up this maybe-scandal by association. Where are your tax records, Mrs. Clinton? Why do you repeatedly deflect requests to release them? Obama has released his. People in glass houses shouldn't cry scandal.

Your insinuation that Obama plays the race card by proxy is truly pathetic. He has been above the fray while all Clinton can do is attempt to drive wedges. Try again.

The Rezko story is insignificant compared to the massive, sickening, twisted, filthy iceberg that is the Clinton legacy.

"Silas" - you said that Gore would have won in 2000 were it not for the Clinton scandal. Is your memory failing you or what? He did win the popular vote. It was the hanging chads of Florida and the Supreme court who decided to put GWBush II in the White House. Don't ever think that the American people were not clear about who was the best candidate - despite how the media and the GOP had tried to muddy the waters with all kinds of useless taxpayer funded scandals during the Clinton years. We the people spoke but the GOP's fight out of a play book that always seems to take the Dem by surprise. I am CERTAIN that after they LET Obama have this primary media honeymoon and if he wins the nomination- They plan to EAT him ALIVE. Listen to the conservative talk radio- they are already salivating.

"They plan to EAT him ALIVE. Listen to the conservative talk radio- they are already salivating."

I'm sorry, but you would think that the Obidiots would realize that!! The NYPOST endorses him!! Why would they do that? Because they're shit scared of the Clintons who have proven, over and over again to be unsinkable!

That's why I think that all of these Obama people are stupid children, they can't see the most basic writing on the wall.

From a purely rhetorical point of view, that "sickening, twisted, filthy iceberg" is a heckuva good image.

You should write speeches.

"Suggests"? There isn't even any allegation of wrongdoing. So far it's just inuendeo and guilt by association.
