Monica and Bill at 3 a.m.
by adam wannabe
After Hillary Clinton's possibly pyrrhic victories in Ohio and Texas, victories that were undoubtedly the result of having "bloodied" Obama just as Rush Limbaugh had hoped she would, the consensus among the cable news punditry was that Obama will now have to respond with a negative campaign of his own to match Hillary's. So much for a new day of transcending the old politics...

So what are we going to see now? An Obama scare ad with the ringing phone answered at 3 a.m. by... Bill...or even worse...Monica?

Especially if McCain picks someone like Sen. Lindsey Graham (who, as a member of the House, prosecuted President Clinton during the impeachment) as his hatchet man/running mate, why can't Democrats recognize before it is too late that Whitewater, Monica, Travelgate, EVERYTHING will be Drudged up all over again in the general election?

Even Republicans respect Obama (http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20080304/NATION/326810167/1001) and yet our own party is going to throw this inspiring, competent, unblemished person of character under the train? This is self-destructive madness.

Well, Hillary Clinton has conclusively demonstrated that a negative fear-mongering campaign works. Thanks, Hillary!

To start with, I am a conservative Republican who voted for Bush in both elections. And yes, I am disappointed in how his presidency has gone. I had great hopes that he - proclaiming to be a devout Christian with a high standard of morals - could pull our country together. After 9/11, I was proud of his stance on security. Now, unfortunately, I question his motives and his seemingly lack of good counsel.

I agree with your post completely. I am saddened that my Sate of Texas can't see through Hillary and her dirty tactics. I think that a lot of her last minute votes came from her "play" on the tragedy that happened when Sgt. Lozano was killed while escorting her motorcade in Dallas. I hope that I'm wrong about her sincerity to the family of Sgt. Lozano and that it was not just another "political play".

It is really not specifically Hillary that is completely bothering me. I think that she is her own person when it comes to decisions. But, a lot of my problem comes with the fact that Bill will be back in the White House. Was this not the lying, womanizing president that we impeached? God help us all if that happens.

After reading all of the dirt about Obama and then checking it out on Snopes, I found out that it was exactly that - untruthful dirt, I think that he might be just what the country needs right now. As far as pulling the troops, I am not totally convinced that is the right thing to do. I do believe that Iraq has had enough time to get their government together, but they haven't agreed on anything for thousands of years and obviously their answer to any problem is violence and I don't see that changing, so where does the answer lie?

I DO believe that we should take care of our own country first. ie: poverty, lost jobs (to countries overseas), the oil situation, border control, etc. before we go off and fight a war that is a no-win situation.

I believe that the "can of worms" was opened up by Bush losing his focus on Bin Laden and going after Sadaam and listening to the likes of Cheney & Rumsfield, but the question is: do we want to fight the terrorists over there or on our own soil?

I am really hoping that the American people can see through Hillary and choose Obama as the Democratic candidate. As I said, I am a conservative Republican, but I we need some new blood in the White House.

Sorry. I meant State of Texas - not Sate.

I sure wish we could all just grow up!! The Monica thing is over. I find that most of the people have moved on - except a few who have nothing better to do. Hillary is not Bill. She won Ohio and Texas- get over it. I don't know what is in any politicians closet.- and they ALL have closets because they are human beings. Trust me-Obama ain't Jesus.

I am a dem and am please that we have two very viable, capable candidates. And how is her politics old- when you look at the two candidates side by side- they stand for essentially the same thing. Obama's politics are not new - he just a new face. And that's okay. I hope the dems will not feed on the flesh of each other they will need the energy for the fall. But it seems the media and some people like to keep the fight going. Rather than be supportive they are spoil sports.
