Women in the Kitchen
by Madai

Many women don't enjoy their jobs, and are stuck in them for the money, and would rather spend more time cooking and parenting.

That said, certain types of men LOVE getting a rise out of people. Sexism, racism, doesn't matter. The bigger the reaction, the better.

Even worse, some people make money because they are abusive. Chef Ramsey and Simon Cowell are what I call professional assholes(whether they cook or judge music is secondary). They are well-paid and famous mostly because they are so good at being assholes! And until both Fox and it's audience is destroyed, there will be home and a job for said assholes.

With these professional assholes as role models, and the amazing vulgarity possible in the anonimity of the internet, we are definately on a path to incredible crudeness.

I think you are right about something...that if the kitchen statement was said at all, it was almost certainly meant as a joke. Not to say that it is funny or even appropriate, but it is portrayed on the XX as overtly threatening sexism. I suspect this is dishonesty on the part of the XX blogger.

You forgot to mention Janice Dickinson in your list of T.V. assholes; I guess because it spoils your theory that only men like to be mean or rude to create drama and/or for their amusement.

Re: Women in the Kitchen

Never heard of Janice, but I won't deny that women can be assholes, and there's money to be made by women in the asshole business.
Re: Women in the Kitchen

they why would you make a point of singling out men in your original post?

Oh, you will not DENY that women also are assholes, BUT, yet you didn't use any in your post and clearly implied MEN were the assholes.

Now that is sexism if you ask me.

"Many women don't enjoy their jobs, and are stuck in them for the money, and would rather spend more time cooking and parenting."

The internet is a wonderful thing, is it not? Both my wife and I work from home because we both enjoy what we do, but also enjoy cooking and parenting.

I suspect in the long run, we will see a lot more home-based businesses as people (both men and women) discover they don't have to choose between career and family time.

I dunno. I got both of his points, and didn't know who this Janice woman was. Still don't.

Maybe I am just too new here to spot warning signs effectively ;-)

If you are looking for a professional asshole who is a woman, I would nominate Ann Coulter....

When someone uses multiple examples that single out one group I call that a warning sign. e.g. Always calling out the antics of Al and Jesse but never of any of the white 'big mouths'.

Janice is a former model that is just a total ass and has been. She is on reality TV.

I'm luckly enough to work from home. I cook most night since I can start dinner and work (well or play at the Fray!), at the same time.

Lets hope that we can all be freed up to enjoy life! But again I see a one sided comment by the top poster. "many women,,,'. as you well know may men also feel they are stuck in dead end jobs.

Re: Women in the Kitchen

While I agree that the guy was probably just trying to get a rise out of her, the scary thing I see on many message boards is how serious some people are. There's a huge difference between someone freely choosing to stay home and do housework because they really enjoy it more than a job, and someone being told that housework is all they should be doing because of their gender.
Re: Women in the Kitchen

Well, the subject matter was some guy harassing Hillary supporter with sexist stupidity. So, I didn't really see myself as singling out men since the subject was already men behaving badly.

But, I don't really strive to avoid sexism when I write stuff on the internet. If I want to walk on eggshells around stuffy thought police, I'll do it in real life, thank you very much.

Re: Women in the Kitchen

Is it really that much more effort for you to accurately convey what you really mean the first time Madai?

Maybe you should relax and stop writing in the Fray if it's that taxing.

You do realize, I'm sure, that all you would have had to do to your original post is substitute the word people where you put men. Your post would then have been more intelligent, more accurate and also a better reflection of what you claim to actually think. Maybe your instinct is to simply be negative about men and your choice of words was reflexive. Maybe you could work on that.

:)

i find it amazing that feminist cry foul when they suspect sexism, but are all for it when its reversed...feminist, thy name is hypocrite.....
Re: Women in the Kitchen

exactly...of course you are a misogynist for saying so. Why do you hate women so much? Do you have a bad relationship with your mother? I pity your daughters and your wife.

blah, blah, blah puke.
