While your reasons behind shunning Kima for ratting are completely valid, I don't think it is such a black and white decision. Remember, Kima was the one who had to interview the families of McNulty's serial killer "victims"; those family members were deeply hurt by Jimmy's actions. Also, her honest police work (Marlo's triple murder) was hindered by McNulty and Freamon's BS.
Finally, when she asked Carver about charging Colicchio, he said that he didn't like doing it, but that he felt he needed to because Tony was bordering on mental instability. I think Kima might be sensing the same thing with McNulty. In that case, ratting him out might actually help McNulty in the long run.
I am not saying that ratting them out is the right thing to do; I am just pointing out that it is not an easy decision, and there are good reasons to support each side of the argument.
