Fact: Mormon Church will bar me from my daughter's marriage
by Paperboy55
+1/-1 Reply

I left the Mormon Church several years ago when I found out the church intentionally hid its true history from its members, including the fact that Joseph Smith, the founder and first Mormon Prophet leader, was married to and engaged in sexual relations with as many as 38 women other than his wife Emma, some as young as 14 years old.

I have a daughter who is a practicing Mormon. As a believer, she intends to marry in the Mormon Temple. As a non-Mormon, I will be barred from attending my own daughter's marriage. I find this policy from a so-called mainstream church not only puzzling, but highly pejorative towards me, their father. How can Mitt Romney claim his Religion represents the one and only true of Christ, let alone is capable of allowing him to serve the American people?

During this election cyle, the Media and the American people need to take a closer look at Mormon doctrines, policies and behavior. Upon close inspection, it will be revealed that Mormon Doctrine is racist (black-skinned human beings are considered less valient than white-skinned humans, according to Mormon prophets) elitist (Mormon Doctrine teaches that all churches other than the Mormon church are considered an abomination before God) and extremely controlling (Mormon Doctrine teaches that the Mormon Prophet is always correct and his views and teachings can never be questioned nor challenged in any way. The penalty for so doing is often expulsion or shunning (Excommunication or Disfellowship) a devastating penalty for believing Mormons. There is nothing Christ-like about the Mormon Church, despite its protestations to the contrary.

I'm glad I was able to escape Mormonism's bizarre teachings and its mind-numbing control.

You left the church and she didn't.

You have no right to complain now.

You made a choice. Deal with it instead of whining about it.

San, I'm dealing with it...

By letting others know that the Mormon Church's so called doctrine of being the only true Church of Jesus Christ is not only troubling but essentially un-American. Mormonism's advocacy for "free agency" or freedom of choice is nothing more than a sham. Finally, Mormonism's support for and promotion of the family unit is nothing more than a facade for it's real purpose of controllng individual members at any cost, including the threat of separation from family, the ultimate penalty.

Henry Ford once said that his customers could choose any color of car; as long as it was black. The doctrine of Communism includes at its core control of the individual. The state owns the person, the person's wealth, the person's sexuality, and even the person's family. According to Mormon doctrine, Lucifer, Christ's brother in the pre-existence, advocated his plan which would reject the ability of human beings to have free choice and would force them to live according to God's plan. Jesus advocated for fee choice and Lucifer rebelled and waged a war against God and Jesus. God prevailed and Lucifer and his followers were cast out of heaven.

So, what is the difference between Mormonism's doctrine of complete control of the individual, the family and the doctrine of communism and Lucifer's pre-existence plan? Get over it San. Mormon Doctrine is plain troubling, corrosive and un-American.

No wonder Utahns are the most depressed of any state in the U.S. And since Mormons make up more than 70 percent of the population, the depressed state of mind of Utahns can be explained by the mind-numbing control of the Mormon Church. As Trekkies know, once you are assimilated into the "Borg Collective" you renounce your own identity, thoughts, and desires. You belong to the Borg. This is how many Mormon Utahns feel. I know first-hand; I lived in Utah for five long and very depressing years. The plasticity of many I encountered while living there was bizarre, troubling and downright scary.

Again, the more people find out about Mormonism, the more troubling and frightening it will be.

Stop your crying.

Your daughter didn't leave. You left her Church. Now you are here bashing her church and whining that they didn't want someone as rude as you at her marriage ceremony?

Wow. You are a pompous jackass.

I would ban you from all ceremonies if I had the power.

You are a pompous jackass

In what way is he rude? How is he being a pompous jackass? Because he left the faith in which he was raised?

Ah, the transformative power of Christ on display for all to see. The humility, the kindness, the meek inheriting the earth, yadda yadda...

If Christianity is supposed to make you a better person, or at the very least make you STRIVE to be a better person, then your God has failed you, San... or, at least, you have failed your God.

It's quite a rarity to come across such a spiteful little wretch, one who absolutely cannot resist belittling someone else's joy or sorrow. The fact that this miserable creature claims to be a 'Christian' and that this 'Christianity' is humanity's only source of 'morality' and 'dignity' makes it (and him) all the more pathetic.

All religions do what you claim to some degree. Unless you are agnostic I somewhat agree with San. Stop your bitching. Be happy you are not part of that insane cult and move on.

Of course, most religions do not exclude non-believing family and friends from participating in important rites such as marriage. Hell, the Catholics did not block me from becoming the godfather for my wife's nephew! And I have never been prevented from attending the wedding of any friends or family members -- other than LDS.

Sorry to hear that you are being denied access to your daughters wedding but glad that you got out of Mormonism. People who have not lived that life don't realize how difficult a task that can be.It takes a special kind of person to walk away from everything they know, often empity handed, and start over. GOD BLESS

Your reply appears to imply that excluding non-believing family members is somehow a bad behavior or something only a cracy 'cult' would do.

I just don't agree with this. It is just another set of dogma. To me when one compares religious dogma and rituals it is the same as saying whose's shit smells better. At the end of the day they are all forms of shit.

With regards to Catholic Church, in Italy it is different. My wife and I got married their (in her small town), and the priest there would only marry us because I was Buddhist. He said that if I was another Christian sect, or worst of all Jewish, he wouldn't do it.

. . . I missed a memo that only pedantic, facile agnostics and self-aggrandizing Catholics got; I didn't realize that it was "bitching" to express regret that you're no allowed to attend your daughter's wedding.

Not surprised that a priest might not have married you if you were not a believer -- that in not uncommon in many religions. But not allowing others to even attend the ceremony is another thing.

When you growup you'll be able to tell the difference.

So if I don't get back on-line before then, have a merry Christmas, Nano.

And to everyone else, joyous Eid, Happy Solstice, Festive Festivus or whatever!
