disc is as dead as disco
by thewanger
Why do you think even Microsoft doesn't care that the format it supported is dead. Blue-Ray is as dead as HD, Sony just can't abandon it because they paid billions to the studios to use it exclusively. DO NOT buy Blue-Ray; down-loadable movies are already growing faster than that bloated format. The future is all download, baby. In a few years you'll be stuck with all those expensive Blue-Ray discs and a worthless player. I'm already buying download Hi-Def movies, videos, video games etc. from Netflix, Xbox Live, and other sites. Check it all out before you spend thousands. Technology has moved so fast that Blue-Ray is already obsolete. And don't be scared of RFID chips, they've been replaced before they had a chance. They've been replaced with an invisible tattoo whose ink IS an RFID "chipless" chip. The company is called Somark. Once everyone has this mark we won't need cash and no one will get lost because you can be tracked anywhere you go. Isn't the future just yummy!!!

I'll stick to DVDs, thanks. Downloads are fine for rentals, but if I'm gonna buy something, I want it to be a physical object. I'll skip the mark too. Debit cards work just fne.

Download has a long way to go to catch Blue Ray. Currently the quality is not even as good as standard DVD. If you think you're getting "high def" you are sadly mistaken. The number of titles available is miniscule, and the Hollywood studios aren't all onboard.

Oh, and nice propaganda using the term "bloated format." As far as I'm aware, more is better when it comes to storage media.

You're definitely not getting Hi-def downloads.

What the flying spaghetti monster does RFID have to do with purchasing movies? If you're downloading them then you don't need to go to a store; just give them your credit card number.

Most rural places can't get fast enough internet connections to download movies. Satellite is not fast enough and the fap limits are not high enough. Also, Netflix downloads don't work on a MAC that isn't running Windows.

I have DVDs that are 10 years old how likely am I to still have anything I download in 10 years?
