Hillary's sad implosion
by progressivebulldog

Hillary has become a sad and sorry figure indeed. She has gone from being the "inevitable" Democratic nominee to being a whining, scheming, pathetic shell of her former self.

I do feel a little sorry for her. She must have felt that it was her "turn" to be president and she was already looking beyond the primary to the general election or maybe even to her coronation (oh sorry, inauguration) as president.

She is a smart and capable woman who is clearly both confused and outraged that Obama is getting away with taking the presidency from her by being more positive and likeable then she is.

At the end of the Texas debate she was kind and gracious to Obama who hadn't made some huge blunder which was her only remaining shot at the nomination. She could have looked at the reality of her situation and realized that she has already lost the nomination barring some miracle such as winning Texas and Ohio by 40%; unlikely under the best of circumstances but even more so when Obama now leads in Texas and is nipping at her heels in Ohio.

I suppose that after last nights debate she might as well stick it out until after March 4. She could have went out with class instead of as a poor loser. How very sad.

For a new low in Hillary's campaign strategies, check out Texas blogsite Burnt Orange Report: In a nutshell, Hillary's campaign has a video ad in Texas saying Ann Richards (God rest her) would have been campaigning for her were she still alive, and asking people to vote for her (Hillary) 'for Ann!' I kid you not,

And, it turns out, though she had the permission of Ann's youngest daughter for same, Ann's sons had not given permission, and one of them in particular is really p- I mean, upset, saying the campaign had asked him for permission, been refused TWICE, asked him if he would sue, and upon being told no, he wasn't the suing kind, released the ad anyway, at least into the blogosphere. (Not sure if they have bought actual airtime for it yet...).

...too horrific to believe, and yet it seems to be true.

I feel truly sorry for Sen. Clinton now and am watching her campaign the same way I used to watch scary movies: virtually peering through my fingers, because it is too awful to watch and yet I can't bring myself to look away.

The scary movie

Yes, Hillary's campaign has devolved into horror movie fare. Just when you think she has hit a new low she surprises us all with yet another way to lose more votes.

Hillary's campaign also reminds me of a Greek tragedy where the hero of the piece is brought low by their own hubris.

The term "Clintonesque" used to refer to lawyerly twisting of language such as what the meaning of is is.

Now I think we can add a new definition under this heading: Running an unbelievably bad political campaign.
