Predictions, anyone?
by Jangle

This week, Marlo told Chris they are overdue for their Atlantic City trip. I bet (a small amount) since McNulty asked Bunk to wait on arresting Chris, and they wait too long. Cops being raiding houses looking for Chris while he is out of town, and Snoop warns Chris the po-po are looking for him and Chris either splits (unlikely ending for this show) or Marlo kills Chris while in AC to cover his own tracks. This goes along with everything McNulty touching this season turning to crap and pissing off his friends/loved ones, as well as supporting the Marlo is Satan theme.

The "on the next Wire" trailer at the end of this episode was a tease-who does Michael have a gun pointed at? Is he going to kill Chris on Marlo's orders? Or does he take down Marlo for being a total prick? Or Snoop? Vote (guess) now!

Jangle,

Your second paragraph is a big time spoiler to people who assiduously avoid those previews, precisely because of the spoilers they contain. I imagine most of us have on-demand, and know exactly what happens in that scene, but you might want to revise your post.

That being said, I do see Chris taking Marlo down - not because Chris has ambition, necessarily, but because Omar exposed Marlo as a coward. If Chris realizes that he has done all he has for a punk, he might take some action sheerly out of resentment.

I'm guessing that Michael takes out Snoop. Right before the scene where he points the gun at someone in the truck, Chris is in a warehouse or something. So that kind of rules him out. The other reason for my guess is that Michael wants revenge for Snoop pushing him in the chest and telling him to shut up about what Marlo should or shouldn't do. A little disrespectful and humiliating, no? Even though Chris was the only witness, no one wants to get punked like that. Unless of course they are a punk, which Michael is not.

And third, doesn't Snoop usually drive? Chris drives Marlo, but when it's Snoop and Chris in the car Snoop is the driver. But then Michael seems to be on the driver side of the car when he points the gun. He's more junior to Snoop, so I guess he'd be driving if it was just him and Snooptizzle in the truck. I'm rambling, but there are lots of permutations here. One thing's for sure: no weak-a$$ Soprano-style ending.

Sorry about that Sasha. Wasn't even thinking. I know when I rented the first 2 seasons to catch up, I avoided the 'next on' trailers for that exact reason. I also realize I was pissed because reading this forum caused me to read *IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN EPISODE 8 STOP HERE* about the you tube spoiler of you know who killing Omar, so Omar's death last night was a bit anticlimactic-I never watched the youtube spoiler, but reading the names ruined it enough for me.

From now on I will be more cautious and post if spoilers lie ahead. And I will hope folks don't read a discussion forum on a episode they have yet to see...

No worries. That being said, I would love to discuss episode 9 (with fellow Wire-heads who stayed till 1 AM watching it after it appeared on-demand,) preferably in some forum accommodated by Slate.

You won't find much from Slate, but then again that shouldn't surprise us. If they asked Plotz and Goldberg to post this season, how much do they really care about this discussion?

Do not despair though, there are other forums. Alan Sepinwall has a particularly popular one, you can find the week 9 on demand forum here:

Doing a quick Google search will turn up more forums that have a dedicated page for On Demand watchers. Like I said though, don't expect too much from Slate.
