Quit making excuses, be accountable
by fit1

I am tired of everyone making excuses and not being accountable for their own actions. They blame everyone else for their financial, weight and just about every issue they have.

the fact is that people who don't take care of themselves whether it be weight, financial decisions, or any addiction they may have are a drain and burden on everyone else. That results in higher taxes, medical costs and our current economic collapse.

Be a responsible adult. Quit making excuses and have everyone pay for your poor chioces. Quit playing the victim and acting like its everyone elses fault. Start making better decisions and be accountable for them. You are a drain on our society.

The people that are getting the shaft are the ones that make good decisions and take care of their bodies. We have to fork out more money in medical cost and taxes and have had the value of their homes plummet.

A growing sector in the United States has become fat, lazy, irresponsible and sit around feeling sorry for themselves waiting for handouts and bailouts and actually think they are justified and deserving. Pay for your own ride on this American roller coaster you have created and when your ride is over be apart of the solution, not the problem.

To "fit1": Wow! And people say we Christians are self-righteous and judgmental! I'm all about accountability and responsible behaviour, but we need to balance our high standards with qualities like humility, compassion and mercy. After all, no one -- not even you, o high-and-mighty "fit1" -- is perfect. I bet if we all looked real hard at your lifestyle, we could find something you're doing or not doing that ultimately hurts society or the environment or the economy. In any case, blaming so many of the world's ills on the "unfit ones" is an extreme position, not entirely supported by facts. It is a form of prejudice and is no more acceptable than racism, sexism or any other belief system that judges an individual by superficial, external traits without first getting to know him or her.

Fit1 - I agree with your comments completely. I also agree with abbaskids comment about humility, compassion, and mercy, but only to a certain extent. How long can you continue to feel sorry for people that make bad decisions. Break the law and you should go to jail. Live an unhealthy life style with poor eating and excerise habits and face the consquences of having poor health. But when other peoples poor decisions start to have a large effect on the rest of society, then its NOT ok. Buy a house that you can't afford and then cry about not being able to make the mortgage payment. Its your fault, deal with the consquences and learn from them. Do not expect the gov't and other peoples tax dollars to bail you out.

Also, abbaskid, it is absolutely ridiculous that you would consider someone asking others to be responsible and accountable as being:

prejudice and is no more acceptable than racism, sexism or any other belief system that judges an individual by superficial, external traits without first getting to know him or her.

People can't do anything about their race, their sex, their eye color, and should not want to because those attributes make our world diverse but they CAN do something about their lifestyle, decisions, and weight. Someones race or sex does not effect the rest of society, but someone who chooses a unhealthy lifestyle or makes bad financial decisions and then expects everyone else to bail them out has a large effect on society. If everyone would just take some responsibility for their actions and decisions this country would be much much better off!

Fit1 is absolutely correct. The one who responded about being Christians, speak for yourself. I have no affiliation with religion. Religion is a way to control people and is one of the largest money making organizations in the world. Do you actually believe there is a higher power controlling everything? Get real. Answer this one question....who created God? Will your response be what all religious leaders say...he was just always there. Good explanation. So keeping believeing in something that doesn't exist and do yourself a favor...lose some weight.
