question for Michelle Obama
by mhaskins10
Have any media outlets asked Mrs. Obama what first lady she would like to model herself after if her husband wins the White House?

It would be interesting to see how that question would be handled...

I would assume Mrs. Obama would create her own style and not be anyone's clone. She is a very intelligent lady and will be an asset to the country. I look forward to having her in the WH and as a representative of the U.S.A.

Oh, I don't disagree, i believe Mrs. Obama is a wonderful woman.
This is merely a question I am pondering because it seems this question is usually asked of potential First Lady's...

She should say First Lady Buchanan and let the dumbass who asked the question try to figure out what it means.

LOL--sorry, there wasn't any Mrs. Buchanan, he was (and remains) our only bachelor president (I guess that means "my kind" are discriminated against as well, it just happened that our glorious earth-shattering candidate came a couple of centuries too early).

While it was meant in a pithy way, in truth, it would be a way for her to say that she's not going to follow anyone, but will rather chart her own course. Which I'm sure she'll do when she enters the White House in less than a year.

Frankly who cares? We're electing a President, not a first lady.

Presumably she'll do some mixture of giving her husband advice in private, hosting teas and state dinners, and adopting a pet cause or two, like illiteracy or mental health. That's what they all do. Some emphasize one aspect more than the others. After Hillary's healthcare debacle I wouldn't expect another first lady to be given official responsibility for, oh, at least the next hundred years or so.

The real question is what sort of first lady Bill Clinton would make. THAT could be a hoot.

As a history teacher and, and all around nerd, I have to say that the Buchanan response is the best answer I have ever heard. To anything. Ever.

Thanks for bringing a smile to my face.

I thought that was some reference to Pat Buchanan. Even though he lost in 2000, his running mate was a black woman-- so I thought you were making a reference to that.

The OP's question was actually more or less asked (and somewhat answered, in a way fairly consistent with what elemenop2 suggested) in an interview in the latest issue of Newsweek
