I Had Concluded
by OfftheCuff
Obama was a cult long before it was written about. Sometimes things get written about because it's what is there to be seen and described. I was thinking American Idol a long time ago. One would hope the fever breaks before we have the new W--an arguably agreeable guy (though probably not) sitting in the White House with little or no clue but a big belief in his own magic destiny and the inherent rightness of his next searing insight.

...seems to lack substance. The logic and conclusion are self-referencing. As all of these rants against Obama seem to be. Try to dig down and articulate a bit. I'm really curious about the root of these misgivings.

The root of these misgivings is Senator Obama's lack of real experience or record upon which we can make a substantive judgment. Instead, we are supposed to trust that, because of his soaring rhetoric and high goals, he will be an effective chief executive. Some might say that he is actually running on his lack of record, because it provides little basis for substantive criticism, but it also provides little basis for strong support. As Samuel Johnson said about second marriages, Obama represents "the triumph of hope over experience."
