about the bottle in the car seat
by eleanor
several people have sited this snippet as evidence that the bottle feeding mother is obviously lying. How ridiculous, they point out, to imagine passing drivers peering into her back seat, spotting the bottle, and bothering to shake their fists in her general direction.

I would like to counter that infant car seats COME OUT of vehicles. People carry them on one arm through parking lots. They pop them into stroller frames and push them around malls. This I imagine is when the bottle is spotted because the alternative scenario that has been proposed, I'll agree, is completely absurd.

Actually, I never took the infant carrier out of the car. Some of us actually carry our children in our arms.

ditto....with twins though....I loved my Peg twin stroller that the seats went in...

Other than that I had matching slings and did double carry.

Really? How snide for you. The very thought of carrying an infant for, say, an entire grocery shopping trip makes my arms ache. Just one question though, what did you use to push the shopping cart?

Absolutely. I haven't reread the original letter, but didn't the LW specifically say that she was harassed by strangers *in the grocery store*? I always pictured her car seat being in the cart as she was shopping.
