What is that but? Is Kmiec admitting, albeit reluctantly, that there are not good reasons to be there in the first place?

All these after the fact conversions are distressing. These guys allowed the Republican party of Eisenhower to deteriorate in the first place, and now they throw invective at the current crop of incompetants they helped put in office?
