DAVID SHUSTER AND "PIMP"
by ANTHONY MURASKI

As an MSNBC groupie and liberal I always enjoyed the straight-backed and head sharp wit of David Shuster and, I admit, never heard the "pimp" word. However, as a liberal I am very sensitive to those who bash my toned-downed liberal Clintons. MSNBC, unlike the unscrupulous Fox, once Clinton-hater channel, has become Foxed when it comes to the Clintons. What is it? Have the Clintons so tarnished the liberal image that the progressive reporters and commentators on MSNBC now are in a pitched battle of self-flagalation to atone for the sins of the Clintons' past? Is there an anti-Clinton baisis on MSNBC. By asking the question, I answered it.

I was mostly a fan of the Clintons before they tried to bully Shuster. The Clintons self-proclaimed strategy has been to "hit back and twice as hard." That may be effective advice to John Kerry who initially turned the other cheek to the Swiftboaters, but it was complete overkill to go after Shuster.

They indiscriminately went after what they saw was criticism--and it was a profound distraction from the Clinton cmpaign. The first rule of politics is to say "on message." MSNBC is the most progressive place around but it will only stay that way if they can handle criticism.

Shuster is just the scape goat for pundits like Chris Mathews.he has been on a ,"Hate Hillary," for ages.

Chris should have been fired. They chose to punish David,as he is not as important as that loud mouthed toad.Mathews.

It was high time that something was said to MSNBC. In some ways

it's a shame Shuster got the brunt of it. It should have been Matthews

for his continual offensive comments towards women.

It's more than the Clintons. That's just the subtext for the "pimp" comment. It's really about whether MSNBC's type of progressive reporting is caught in a time warp. The progressive movement peaked in 1964. The modern progressive movememt was born not out of the short lived charmed master of the word but by the head slamming old politics of LBJ. Today's progressive movement is being mesmerized by that same charmed intellect of Obama. But it's the head banging politics which will move the progressives forward. This is not the time to ask "why can;t we all get along". Shuster's comment was designed to castrate Hillary's power base by hanging her daughter to a proverbial tree. MSNBC has been sweet talked by a flash in the pan. Let's see how many Democrates and independents split their tickets with a President MaCain and a Democrat Congress if the latest Wizard of Oz prevails.
