If Hillary wins ugly

First a few disclaimers, I am an enthusiastic Obama supporter and have contributed several times to his campaign. As an over-educated, young, white male, I am right in Obama's demographic sweet spots.

If Hillary wins the election fair and square, it's fair to say I would be very disappointed. In fact, a couple things would leave me rather disgusted: Namely, the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton thing and the restoration of the Clinton psychodrama to the national stage.

That said, I like Hillary. I think she is a great senator. I think she is smart and hard-working. So if she wins fairly, I would vote for her and donate to her campaign, even if my enthusiasm would be less intense than if Obama becomes the nominee.

However, if she wins ugly, either by using superdelegates to overturn and Obama lead in pledged delegates or if she wins using the grossly unfair uncontested delegates from Florida and Michigan, she will lose my vote.

(Though, I thin a new vote in Florida or Michigan would be fair and not a problem.)

But if she wins using underhanded tactics , there is no way I could support her, and I have a feeling a lot of other Democrats feel the same way. So it could become a case where Hillary wins the battle but loses the war. If sleazy, win-at-all-costs tactics give Hillary the nomination over the popular will of Democratic voters, it will drive flocks of voters to McCain or gives them reason to stay home in November.

Well said. I'm not sure I could bring myself to vote for McCain over Clinton, but...

If she wins the nomination fairly, I'll vote for her without hesitation, and urge my friends to do the same. If she resorts to superdelegates, I will consider staying home. If she resorts to claiming delegates from a primary where her opponent's name wasn't even on the ballot, I will DEFINITELY stay home.

(Well, I won't stay home, but I won't cast a vote for President. I'll still vote for my state's Congressional delegation. Unless they were among the superdelegates supporting Clinton...)

Hillary had better not go to extreme dirt tactics. That could hurt her. Lets say Hillary does when the nomination. Lets say because of all her dirt tactics and spin tactics that she pisses off African Americans. As a result, African Americans might not come out in the massive numbers she needs to beat McCain, because they will feel like she dishonestly overly persecuted Obama. If she was a person with some integrity, then she would not have to resort to dirt and spin. If she truly was a messenger for change, then I would think she would let the positive points of her arguments sway people instead of using dirt and spin. However, that is question of integrity, and I don't think Hillary a single bone with integrity in her entire body. For example, lets take the Michigan and Florida delegate situation. She does not want to respect rules of Democratic National Committee. She wants delegates even though no candidates were allowed. That’s says a lot about her character, honesty, sense of fair play, and respect of rules. She has none. She is only concerned about herself, and she will do anything to win. I trust McCain more than I trust Hillary. McCain is a moderate. I am a moderate democrat. I only disagree with McCain on the Iraq War. I would rather see McCain or Obama in office before Hillary. Why? I am tired of political dynasties. For over almost 30 years, the White house has had the Bushs and the Clintons running the show. Its not their God given right to be president. It’s a game to them, but the sad part is that we the American people are losing.
