To be blunt....
by valark

Exactly who is going to be in Obama's cabinet?

I have to just say, the idea of his wanting to create chaos at this point in time is disturbing to me.

If he gets the nomination, I am voting McCain.

Why do you think he will "create chaos"? What do you mean, "who will be in his cabinet"? Your post is unclear.

I agree Blunt. Who will be in his cabinet. Having voted Democrat all my life, if Obama wind the nomination I will vote for McCain. This election is way too important to turn over to someone with only 2 years senate exp.

This is a silly idea. The President's cabinet has virtually NO authority beyond acting in an advisory capacity. Yes, they control certain departments and agencies (e.g. the Secretary of Homeland Security controls the Department of Homeland Security, which controls the Secret Service, FBI, and CIA), but the final decisions rest with the President. The Cabinet has no authority to override the President in any decision, no matter what the Department and no matter what the agency.

Not to mention, all members of the President's Cabinet must be approved by the Senate. They also are subjected to stringent security/background checks. Even if you think that a President Obama would appoint...I don't know...Osama bin Laden to his Cabinet (trust me, he won't; I'm not even sure if he could), the Senate could simply deny the nomination.

I have no idea what could possibly scare you so much about the makeup of Obama's cabinet. Please elaborate.

Could it be any scarier than a supremely experienced team comprised of such names as Dick Cheney (former White House Chief of Staff, former Sec. of State, 10 year member of Congress), Donald Rumsfeld (another former White House Chief of Staff, a former Secretary of Defense under Ford, and a 6 year member of Congress), Colin Powell (former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, former NSA Advisor to Reagan), etc?

In 2000, that was a preeminently respectable bunch of experienced politicians.

And they screwed up. Horribly. So what can we expect to learn of Obama or Clinton's presidency from his or her staff choices at this point? Nothing.
