Clinton not down and out
by ladyhands
I have to trust that the liberal and moderate Democratic electorate will vote with their heads. WE must have someone who can navigate the waters of Congress without having to paddle upstream. My message to those still thinking of the issues, is to make sure that experience and wisdom still count. Irregardless of gender or race.

It is not just the Democratic electorate Clinton should worry about. She still leads among Democrats in most polls, but most states allow independents and/or Republicans to vote in primaries and caucuses. Obama wins a large majority of these votes.

ps- 'irregardless' isn't really a word, at least not in the context you are using it in. 'Regardless' does the job minus the 'ir'

There's a popular perception cultivated by the Clinton campaign that Hillary is a master of Congressional wheeling-and-dealing. This is simply not the case. By all accounts, she has been capable, but she is still relatively inexperienced and Senator Obama has been at least as capable.

One very insightful way to look at a Senator's degree of expertise in legislative minutiae is to look at the way in which they work to amend the bills that are working their way through Congress. If you examine the Congressional Voting Records, you'll find Senator Clinton has the following record with "Clinton Amendments":

April 11th, 2002: Clinton Amdt. No. 3108; REJECTED

September 14th, 2004: Clinton Amdt. No. 3632; REJECTED

September 14th, 2004: Clinton Amdt. No. 3631; TABLED

March 17th, 2005: Clinton Amdt. No. 244 As Modified; REJECTED

September 14th, 2005: Clinton Amdt. NO. 1660; REJECTED

October 26th, 2005: Clinton Amdt. No. 2292; REJECTED

February 2nd, 2006: Clinton Amdt. No. 2716; REJECTED

May 18th, 2006: Clinton Amdt. No. 4072; REJECTED

July 11th, 2006: Clinton Amdt No. 4563; REJECTED

July 12th, 2006: Clinton Amdt. No. 4576; REJECTED

June 6th, 2007: Clinton Amdt. No. 1183, REJECTED

That's it. She has never successfully amended a bill. If I was looking for someone to navigate the waters of Congress without having to paddle upstream, I'd want someone who hasn't drowned repeatedly.

Ignoring for a moment the fact that "irregardless" is not a word, I see your point. Still, Obama has some experience in Congress and he had the good judgment to vote against the war, as Robert Byrd said Democrats should do, instead of hunkering down and hedging the bet, as most Democrats did.

"Which one has ... a more effective political organization?"

Barack Obama, if you believe Hillary Clinton. She attributes her poor showing in caucuses to the effectiveness of Obama's "activists". As someone wryly noted, Clinton should look into getting some of her own "activists".
