I've lost optimism in America
by Ralph7

I've lost optimism...Without fiscally conservative leadership from the likes of Romney (and Ron Paul), the US will be destroyed by the Left. The last greatest hope (the USA) for a free-thinking free-market, free-trade, rational world is nearly lost.

The best part of Europe had become the United States, but now the worst part of America becomes more like Europe... Western civilization will be brought to its knees by the undying ideas of Marx and Lenin and Keynes.

The left is destroying a gift from God, the first liberal democracy based on individual rights and the economic ideas of Adam Smith that became the richest most powerful nation in world history

The US's greatness comes from the power of free-market economics used in building its corporations, business, and wealth. Without free-trade and private property rights (taxes take my property), we are done as a great nation, and we will be as weak and stupid as France soon. The US has become weak and socialist like Europe. Like the research that concludes domesticated chickens are dumber than wild fowls, Europe is full of dumb lazy socialist chickens. Go to Asia and see how unimportant Europe has become.

So the past seven years with George made you feel good I suppose.

Wasn't it terribole how Clinton balanced the budget.

Oh well you can still vote Ron Paul. He is the straightest shooter when it comes to Iraq.

Gee, Ralph: That sounds something like a speech Julius Ceasar might have made in front of the Roman Senate; or something a Giants fan might say after the Superbowl - "We're Number 1."

I guess that is why the founders put so much about capitalism into the Constitution, so much about becoming a world power, and so little about liberty, justice, equal protection, and individual freedom.

Yeah, it was all about free market capitalism, which us liberals just hat.

Geeee...you can thank the gift of god for that!!! The United States of America is only weak when ****** ******* **** suckers like Bush, and other Republicans have control.

Welcome to the real America, like it, love it, or move the **** out!!!!

You make me sick...

We had a surplus in 2000
by liberal_guy66

and Bush destroyed it in 2001. Good grief. It never ceases to amaze me how you cry baby cons whine, when you could have shared credit for the budget surplus. But, no, instead of conserving it, you destroyed it.

Are you trying to tell me we did not have free markets in the 90s? You must be kidding.

While the Clinton administration did some have some stellar achievements, their screw-ups outweighed them. A few of the many examples are establishing an income tax on seniors' social security benefit, allowing for the costly translation and printing of thousands of government documents and websites and allowing the conditions for 9/11 to develop unchecked. And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

If we had gone with some sane and workable Campaign Finance reform plan, nobody's money would be an option today. So don't blame the guy with the most money, blame your representatives for not stepping up and doing the right thing,

With Romney out of the picture, we will never know how strong he would have been in OH, TX and PA. There is no longer an option for those of us who want a strong foreign policy, no special treatment for illegals, business-like economic policies and a President with values, but not dictating those values to the People.

I am now faced with the choice of opting for

a strong foreign policy, special entitlements for illegals, and a fuzzy economic plan (McCain) OR

crummy health insurance options because I'm middle-class/no kids, turn-tail-and-run Iraq policy, lots of flowery speeches and a management style right out of the Bush Family Playbook (Obama)

OR Inclusive health insurance, measured, sane and dignified withdrawl from Iraq and a fuzzy immigration plan, plus Bill in the PR Dept. (Clinton).

I now see why Florida and Michigan had their primaries when they did. All the primaries from now until the convention really don't have a say on the Republican side. That isn't right.

There is a lot about the American election process that needs tweaking; it's not about offering the two best candidates in the end. And that's to our detriment.

Taxation of Social Security benefits began under Reagan, in 1984.

Even given the more conservative view of debt, Clinton did a better job than did Reagan or Bush 41 or W.

We owed $900b when Reagan's first budget went into effect. We owed $4.4 trillion by the time he and HW were done. We owed $5.8 by the time Clinton left office and we will owe more than $10 trillion by the time W goes back to his ranch.

Who was the conservative? The republicans have borrowed over $7 trillion, while Clinton borrowed $1.4....by anybody's math.....they failed.

We're socialist?

Exactly what is socialized besides National Defense, and medical care for seniors? I'm guessing .... nothing.
