Obama the Lawyer
by Gangway11

So Em starts off by asking "How would he choose judges?" and before she ever starts looking at the question, she answers it in the the next sentence. " If BO gets to be president, he's not going to...." I don't know how she knows what Barack is going to do or will be permitted to do, if elected. For myself, I'd like a little discussion before she answers her own question... and PnP, makes it unnecessary to read the rest of the article. Like Sister D, she's become a little too close to her feelings over the last couple and years, and like Sister D, not so much fun to read anymore.

I have to agree. One would have to assume that Ms. Bazelon is offering her opinions regarding how a President Obama would handle judicial matters, but that is not made clear in the piece. And references to sources affiliated with Mr. Obama's campaign make it harder to determine whether this is reporting or editorializing.

Of course she's editorializing. That's what a column is for!

Though I am a strong McCain supporter I have enjoyed reading Bazeltons columns over the years as they are very well written and thought out. Even if I don't agree with everything she says they make for enjoyable and thought provoking reading. With that in mind, I was very disappointed with this piece of puffery which does not lend much of anything to my knowledge of where Obama might stand and instead only shows where Ms. Bazelton's feelings lie. So sad.
