Taking back the party that is theirs

McCain not a true Conservative? Ridiculous. Especially, as one commentator on CNN noted, from Conservatives who worship Joe Lieberman, of all people.
But the background of this hostility is momentous. McCain is hated, not because he is an [insert L-word here], but because he is a real Conservative -- a decent, normal Conservative, with a conscience, common sense, and realistic fiscal views. His selection would be a disaster for those "conservatives" who aren't any of these things -- the Limbaughs, Cheneys and Roves of the this world.
It's a long-overdue revolution in the GOP. Decent, honest conservative people are taking back the party that is theirs. And throwing out the money-lenders from the temple -- or should we say the money-loaners?
Anyway, if the GOP wants to survive, this simply needs to happen. If it remains in the grip of half-cooked religious fanatics, financial apprentice wizards, and "those who dream with their eyes open", the party is dead. It won't appeal to moderates and to middle America, at least not for long. And if you don't appeal to moderates and middle American you don't get elected. At least not if enough people bother to vote.
