Burning the kitchen god?
by icemilkcoffee

Mmmm- despite growing up in Hong Kong I have never heard of this ritual. Maybe it's a regional ritual?

Did you read the story about the Kitchen God? I mean in chinese mythology? The burning is a part of his repentant humility.
I burned the toast this morning.

I burned the sheets. ;)

I say order Chinese take out for lunch or dinner and you're covered.

I actually have a great friend whose restaurant is around the corner from my house and I always burn a stick of incense to his continured success at the alter of the Kitchen God there for him. :)

Aw man. Okay I seriously envy you today as I am on a restricted diet for a liver panle for a study on Lupus I volunteered for. That and I start Cardio Kick Boxing today. Oh well when the study is over I can indulge in more carbs.

I believe "Burning the Kitchen God" is a new show on the Food Network in which a celebrity chef (Bobby Flay is up first, followed by Mario Batali) is locked in a top-of-the-line Thor oven, and has 10 minutes to escape before it's turned on to "broil".

Cardio kick boxing rocks. Good luck! I did a three-hour session to "kick the new year into gear" a couple of weeks ago. Lots of fun!
Never tried it.

I'm too anti-social, I usually stick to stuff I can do alone. Running , Cycling, Geocaching, Making fun of San.

These classes are at the University and last until May when the second session starts but are for non-grade. Along with my Yoga and swimming I figure I will have my years exercise routines established. I try to alternate between what I do daily, yoga and swimming with an alternate like power walking (can't run on a semi-artificial leg) or Jazzercise and Dance.

Haven't tried cycling would be interesting to see if I can with the partial prosthetic ankle.
You should be able to
by Lumpy_the_Great
Several studies that I have seen have shown cycling to actually be good for your knee, even a prosthetic. I can't say if it would be ok for the ankle but it sure can be fun.
Ooooh, my favorite geeky hobby

I use the same name for geocaching as I do here (Lumpy_The_Great) so you can look me up there.
