Australia the First? Well...
by Sbrak

"...Australia, which last year became the first nation to mandate a gradual phase-out of incandescent bulbs."

Actually Cuba sent youths to homes throughout the country to change the nations bulbs to CFLs two years ago. I remember reading about it in the New Yorker (July 31, 2006 issue). The author was trying to make a negative statement about Castro and his busybody government.

You think all this CFL talk would prove the NYer wrong on this, but I guess that fact just went down the memory hole.

Cuba?
by LeoB
Sbrak, don't you realize that (in this country) nothing good Cuba does is ever recoginized? Otherwise, how can we paint them as an evil regime? (Micheal Moore is the exception, but even he was forced to edit his Cuba coverage and criticized for showing smiling Cubans. Doesn't he know all Cubans are glum?)
