My gut feeling.
by lucy2328

My gut feeling is that the Dem's euphoria may be blinding them to the fight ahead. Rush, Sean, Coulter, the million dollar pockets of pacs like the Swift boaters are not sighning on to kumbya.

No mattter if it is Hillary or Obamba I see a dirty fight ahead.

Dems don't have a history of being able to fight dirty.

Euphoria does not impress me it worries me.

That and recent history.

Limbaugh, Hannity, and Coulter are annoying but they aren't killing people. Bobby kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. had it right when they observed that poor whites and poor blacks had more in common than poor whites and rich whites. Those were and are dangerous truths to be spreading around - got both of them shot dead.

The GOP has managed for nearly 20 years to keep the poor white vote throughout the country with their "conservative social values" programs. It has worked extremely well for the GOP, maintaining their loyalty with "God, guns, and gays" while giving away the country and the poor white peoples' jobs.

The democrats have to beat the shrieking "liberal" tags while getting people to understand the basic economic realities that make the country work. It's going to be a tough sale no matter who gets nominated.

The GOP has kept the white vote in the South through sheer racism and not through their purported values ... unless you call racism a value. Remember when Strom Thurmond went through the South saying the Nixon thought the same as they did (the whites) but could not say it for political reasons, that's when the South went GOP and has stayed GOP.

As for RFK and King being killed because they said poor blacks and poor whites had more in common, etc; well, that does not explain why a crazy Arab killed RFK? And who really killed King?

cheers

My point of reference is not JFK, MLK, etc.

My point of reference is Katrina, watching black elderly women and young women with children stranded in the Super Dome in America..

My point of reference is how Katrina did not shock either Dems or Repubs into action. When the American Presidents mother stated that the people stranded in the superdome were better off than before Katrina was a shocking moment in America. A moment that slipped past the press and most Americans.

Winning a nomination is not winning an election. I do not think for one minute that Karl Rove and his fellow republican hatchet men are fishing for contaminated fish from the banks of their muti dollar estates.

I am not trying to push this too far but your reference was obscure and if you meant Katrina you should have said Katrina. And I do not understand what that has to do with Republicans fighting dirty. Of course they will. That's the nature of the present GOP beast.

However, dirty fighting is not restricted to the GOP in all cases. While I supported JFK, he also campaigned on a so-called "missile gap" between the US and the USSR and he knew from classified official information provided him by Eisenhower that it was not true. This did not descend to the level of the Swift Boaters but did in effect called both Eisenhower and Nixon liars when they said no missile gap existed.

And, of course, a nomination is not an election to office but it is the only start

You haven't been around much, have you? Granted, 100% the Republicans fight dirty and continue to do so. But to think that Dems have no history of dirty campaigning... The Clintons are every bit as filthy as`anyone. South Carolina bears that out. As for the 1960 election nothing was more interesting than dead people voting for Kennedy in alphabetical order in the then pivotal state of Illinois. Please be a better student of history before invoking it.

Identifying the person who pulled the trigger is not necessarily the most important thing in an investigation. Think about it. Do you really believe Sirhan Bishara Sirhan and James Earl Ray were somehow able to do their deeds alone?
