There are about a million more important/interesting things you could be writing about. Retire and let someone with something relevant to say take your place.

How is this any less relevant than, say, a movie review or book review? Slate has those, too, and they're appreciated. How is it less pertinent than the millionth article about Clinton or Obama, Romney or McCain? There's no ground left to cover on that tiresome map.

I understand that practicality is its own religion, but life without digression is a poor, sniffling thing.

Hey now, I personally found this article very interesting, and surprisingly soulful, considering it's about the basic light bulb. Nutty!
