stock characters
by Jodeho

Like the Jew "The Merchant of Venice," the lone gunslinger, the musclebound surfer, the stoner is by now a recognized outsider, an anti-hero, a stock character. All of these can be seen, and are, as comic, tragic, tragi-comic, heroic or anti-heroic. We know them by the one thing they do, not often by what they are. Need a foil for the bourgeoise in your film? Have him call his brother-in-law while the latter is rolling a joint with one hand. He is using a natural plant, stands for freedom against silly laws or else for the victim of his own behavior, confronts the system with a simple gesture, cannot be a real villain because he wants so little, cannot be a real macho hero because his mind is elsewhere. But he's stock because we all know one, we may even be one. At least until the law changes.

Ohw man this so so true dude. The law is realy F up. In amsterdam you can just buy weed and seeds in a shop.I live about 10miles away from amsterdam so why can't it be legal where i live -> Stupid laws. It's just a plant. Legalizing it would be very good for the economie . The shops are also controlled by the gouvernement then so they can see to it that there isn't any bad weed sold . It would make it also safer for experiencing new users because then they don't have to buy from a street dealer wich could also offer them hard drugs. So i have to say LEGALIZE IT ! Who is with me? :D Peace
