this is why reform always fails
by viral

Someone demonstrates that a small change in behavior (recycling, CFLs, etc...) can improve a situation. This gets picked up as the holy grail and way overblown. Then it gets debated into the ground on every imaginable level. Which ultimately obscures the main point of the debate.

CFLs are about energy conservation! That is the point, if you like incandescent lights then use them and save your energy elsewhere (e.g., get rid of your dryer). The point is to save energy not what kind of light you have. If we always focus on the details then we lose track of what really matters.

Amen - CFL have their places. And places where they don't belong. If someone came out with a true (healthy) replacement for the A4 incadescent people would switch voluntarily.
