Agreed. Have not heard this term since high school Latin class.

Only problem is it's not correct, but a commonly made confusion with Antimetabole. According to Wikipedia chiasmus uses inverted grammer, but does not use repeated words or phrases.

So,

"He knowingly lied and we followed blindly"

is chiasmus, but

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"

is antimetabole.

"We give years to your life and life to your years" is pretty clearly an example of the latter, not the former.

Not that I knew this before the word caught my eye and I decided to do find out what it meant. It's ironic to me that the author clearly delved for a clever and eye-catching word, but then used it incorrectly. ;-)

To be honest, I came across sites that purport that repeated and reversed phrases are chiasma (see <link>), but numerous sites state definitively that there is a difference. See
