Something about this has to be a mistake:

"Harper's leads its index with the frightening statistic that the current projected total cost of medical care for U.S. veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan is $5 billion, or roughly equal to the amount that has been spent on both conflicts to date.—N.M."

You can't read the article without buying the magazine, so I couldn't look it up. But if the number is $5 billion, that is nowhere near what has been spent.
