Bush Economics -
by mark14
We must immediately pass a stimulus package of $150 billion to give tax breaks to business and $500 for individual Americans to buy Chinese crap at Wal Mart but I will block $18 billion in earmarks, which despite all the hype, do often contain useful infrastructure projects and employ Americans with the money spent. Then again that is the entire Republican philosophy in a nutshell. Give the people bread (and lots of it if they are rich) and destroy the infrastructure.

What good is a man's riches if he gains the world but loses his soul (or in Bush's case our country)?

Yep. It's not like that "Chinese crap at Wal Mart" employs Americans at the ports, railroads, trucking companies, distribution centers, or stores that sell it. It just magically appears in American homes, whoosh-- China right straight to the buyer.

Grow up.

Oh thank you China for providing us with all those minimum wage jobs. So you think the key to economic sucess is for our government to increase the debt so Americans can buy Chinese crap at Wall-Mart instead of investing in our infrastructure. Hey, you must be a Republlican.
It's touching when you little pea brains

You think longshoremen and Teamsters earn minimum wage, and that its better for the economy to have the government keep our money and decide what to do with it than for us to have it and make our own choices? You must be an idiot.

There isn't going to be many jobs left at the docks. They have automatic, unmanned equipment now. The only jobs left are crane operators, and computer techs!

The ideals you suggest...I hate to tell you, but longshoremen are becoming a thing of the past.

No facts here, just a nonfactual argument.

Pretty soon, Wal-Mart will be the only store left in America, and all those trucking jobs will be for Wal-Mart drivers...

Chinese crap, Asian crap, Middle Eastern crap, but no American crap? What is the point here?

Who continually renewed 'most favored nation trading status'? Who made it easier for American businesses to take manufacturing jobs overseas to China, Malaysia, Indonesia and India? Who said that NAFTA will allow American goods to be cheaper in Mexico? BTW what's the exchange rate with Mexico again? Who was that - Oh yeah, your Lord and Master Bill Clinton. That's why there are fewer and fewer American manufacturing jobs. Because they made it easier for big businesses to take their jobs overseas and sell you the cheap Wal-Mart crap that you so hate or the car that you drive. Stand up for what you believe, don't shop at Wal Mart then (as if they don't sell American made products). Buy only American products made in America, not Mexico, China, Japan, Indonesia and assembled here. That would be most cars, your TV, computer, software, fridges, stoves, freezers, desks, beds, microwaves, furniture etc (in economics that called a durable good). I am against the loss of jobs overseas, but you can't ring the bell and cry foul.
