Hillary's Negatives
by jack_cerf

1. She reminds too many men of their third grade teacher.

2. Too many women think she looks down on them for not having gone to Wellesly and Yale and putting ambition ahead of conventional family life. She's never gotten over not baking cookies.

3. Too many other women won't forgive her for not having dumped her tailhound husband.

4. Because of her husband, her candidacy inevitably turns the national discussion to the events of 10 years ago.

5. The Democratic base is right to distrust her -- she is no more one of them than her husband was. Both believe sincerely in government of the people, by the meritocracy, for what the meritocracy thinks is good for the people. Neither believes government should take its values from hoi polloi of either the red or the blue persuasion.

My top 4: 1. She goes for the convenient/easy win. To put it another way, she's a carpet bagger and people distrust her despite her ability to froth up the New York liberals. 2. She plays both sides of the woman card. We all remember the incident in her senate campaign where Lazio was chastised by the media for "attacking" a woman. We can't have that in the oval office, there is no play nice with the girls rule in world affairs, especially from places where burkas are in fashion. 3. She's a woman. This country is not ready for that big a change in it's chief executive. The furthest outside the WASP we've been is a Catholic. The right wing nut rolls will come out in droves. Same, same for a black guy. We are not as evolved lefties would like to think. 4. She's too polarizing. Anecdotally, have you ever talked to anyone who was middle of the road on Hillary Clinton? Love or hate, protect or destroy is where most people fall out in my neck, which can get a little red, of the woods.
