Science Buff? Bush?!!!
by chuck

The idea that Bush is a "science buff" is ridiculous. There might be acouple of areas where he goes: "Gee whiz, what won't they think of next." But that is it. Bush's old adversary had to win a Nobel Prize before he grudgingly accepted global warming.

Bush does not believe in the theory of evolution. "The court is still out," he says in his inimitable style. Someone who disbelieves in evolution has neither knowledge of biology and geology nor understanding of the scientific method. He does not understand that science changes constantly as new information comes in. Nor do observable facts, as opposed to blind faith, pay an expecially important part in his decision making.

The fact that a NUMBER turned out to be smaller than expected is about the easiest fact to understand. A chimp can understand two bananas are less than five. It is more reasonable to assume that Bush always wanted no additional stem cell lines, and the fact that there seemed to be enough gave him something to hang is hat on. So new facts did not sway his moral position.

Teddy Roosevelt was a real science buff. He read Scientific American every month. Can you even imagine...?

I also find it interesting that his interest in biofuels is cited as evidence of his interest in science. There are other explanations for the president's interest in biofuels, and they still involve pushing his own agenda. Biofuels cannot currently be sustained by our current economy or agricultural scene, so Bush supporting them makes him appear progressive while he supports a cause that we can't yet realize. On a related note, Bush also supports hydrogen-powered cars, but we are many years away from producing such a car that could be sold on the market. The cars work, but there are too many bugs in the system that need to be fixed before they can be made available to consumers. Bush supports this technological development but ignores the fact that we already have an available source that's better for the environment that gas - electricity. The possibility of electric cars as an option has been seriously downplayed by people and corporations interested in keeping the oil industry thriving. Bush is one of those people - by supporting hydrogen-powered cars instead of electric cars, we still have to buy gas in the meantime. The documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" is really informative on this subject and definitely worth watching.
George "Walker" Bush is an alien
by Furbol Ta
George Bush's "missing year" was not spent on Earth. That is a fact.

Breaking news: President Bush enters and exits our world through closely guarded secret portals or "space" devices at Area 51 in Crawford, Texas!

Though it is uncertain whether George "Walker" Bush is an alien from an undisclosed world, or an innocent, albeit hapless and bumbling Earthling who has risen to dizzying heights of power aided by, and at the behest of, dark extraterrestrial forces, details are beginning to surface.
