Mr. Hitchens has effectively explored and exposed the racial overtones of Mr. Huckabee's campaign and by extension his personna. Mr. Huckabee as the soft spoken, music playing and folksy candidate has garnered a degree of support among a segment of voters who may well share more of his views than one would wish. The other shoe of Mr. Huckabee's candidacy tha has fallen is his "Neanderthal intellect" based in a seemingly miserable appreciation, understanding or interest of Mr. Huckabee in science and the scientific view of the world. Mr. Huckabee is an "Adam and Eve-er" type of guy, happy with with a 6,000 year history of planet Earth ala his Bible as revealed history viewpoint and his posture of God, not Darwin. One expects Mr. Huckabee to ponder how Naoah managed to find space for all those animals on the ark, not to wonder about the unreality of the supposed episode. One can Mr. Huckabee to also suspect that a full ticket to Heaven may not be available to Jews or Papist Catholics, The press has been amazingly indifferent to exploring Mr. Huckabee as intellectual Neanderthal for reasons that only they understand, much as they have failed to explore Mr. Huckabee's Confederate flag posturing. More and more, Mr. Huckabee appears to be an opportunist with a very shaky ability to understand the world as we know it.
