A minister alluding to flagpole sodomy?
by DudeMike

Racist or not, it's not particularly classy or presidential to suggest sticking a flagpole "where the sun don't shine"

Whatever your opinion of Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush and their varying amount of "folksiness", they were all polite and never vulgar. (At least in public)

Ann Coulter wrote a column recently that suggests the media's fondness for him as a candidate is that he's way too wacky to win, and I wonder if she doesn't have a point.

Homophobes have always had a strange obsession with gay sex. I mean, as a heterosexual male I don't really think about the topic much, but those men so straight they have to be homophobic... sometimes they're so straight they need to be on the down-low...

Maybe you should stop to consider that telling someone to "stick it" has absolutely no sexual or homosexual connotations, and that you're the ones who have discovered implied homosexuality where there was none to be found?

Who's really the one with the sick mind here?

Hilarious. Ok, indulge me; where exactly was the Huckster suggesting these outsiders "stick it"?

Certainly not in the ground. Probably in some sort of circular receptacle not generally regarded as befitting a flag pole, if the uproarious laughter is any indication.

The statement was certainly defiant; what location for flag pole sticking would most humorously suggest the crowds defiance?

The ball is in your court sir.

Huck was giving a folksy retort. And that retort may even be considered dated. but it does allude to sodomizing.

But putting gayness back in its closet for a moment, the Huckster certainly seems to be developing an impenetrable persona. Hitchens is certainly not powerful enough to pop the Huckster's ballooning image. Given Huckabee's relative insignificance in NH, Michigan, and Nevada, I suspect the hucksterism and patronage to the far right will get a pass. Only if a candidate brings it up will it be an issue again.

Personally, Huckabee's far right Christian schlock is both pathetically charming in an 'Arkansas Razorback welcoming Spirano while all the NFL considered him pathetic' kinda way and dangerous in a 'he's worse and more loony than Bush' kind of way. But I truly doubt he could ever really make it all the way to the White House.

BTW, if folks have never been to the Ozarks or have never seen the Beverly Hillbillies, then you don't really know what Huckabee is doing with that squirrel eating, salute Jonny Reb kinda of charm.

BTW, I'm a Muslim, but I grew up in Missouri and used to spend time in the Ozarks, including going to the Ozark them park with hillbillies and hillbilly folklore shows and Foxfire demos (ref. Foxfire books about mountain folk life, like how to skin a pig and make your own soap).

I also was exposed to atonal maestro Shoenberg, author Ayn Rand, and theorist Thoreau. But I chose the Prophet Muhammad (saaw). But I digress about my youth.....

Huckabee has a pretty good chance at being vice president, and he wouldn't be bad at it. He says some pretty funny stuff, could run the "president's council on physical fitness" and is definitely sensible enough to cast that tie vote, but there's no way this man's going to be elected president.

Unfortunately, I actually think McCain would be the best vice-president in the current field. With his dignity and history of service and sacrifice, he would have the gravitas to handle his duties, and the office doesn't have enough power for him to do much of the stuff I'm worried about him doing.

Sad to say, aside from Thompson, there isn't a decent presidential candidate in the bunch. I guess we'd better get ready for president Clinton.
