Democrats will pull off the impossible!
by morganja

Going into this primary season it was widely assumed that there was no way the democrats could lose this coming election. We stand corrected. If McCain wins the Republican primary, as now seems likely, and Clinton 'wins' the Democratic primary, we will actually have another republican administration. It is inconceivable. Yet this is now a likely scenario. McCain appeals to the independents, Clinton repels independents. A simple formula for November defeat.

How can the Democrats be this incompetent? As much as I don't want to see another republican administration, perhaps this is the death blow the Democratic machine needs. That generation has been a disaster for the Democratic Party and the nation as a whole. They have delivered republican victories election after election. Will a McCain victory over Clinton in 2008 finally be the death knell of that generations grip over the Democratic Party? Or will they hang on for decades to come destroying the party in their celebrated selfishness?

You're exactly right.

It's so simple, I'm surprised we don't hear much more about it; maybe folks are afraid Bill Clinton would personally decapitate anyone in the media who dared to point out this obvious point: McCain matches up MUCH better against Clinton than against Obama.

McCain certainly appeals to this Democrat. If only he wouldn't read his damn victory speeches!
Independents are not generally as stupid

as you posters, and they will vote for Hillary in droves rather than toss this poor nation into the hands of the republican machinery again for four more FEARS.

There are relatively few independents such as yourself willing to allow republicans to continue screwing over this nation just because Obama does not get the nomination.

I would just as soon take another 4 years of Bush than give Hillary a chance to screw things up further. At least Bush has been effectively castrated and can do no further harm. Hillary, on the other hand, might actually get the war with Iran that Bush has been lusting after.

Sadly, I won't have the option to vote for 4 more years of lame duck Bush, and any Republican who comes out on top is also going to try to invade Iran. If Obama doesn't beat Hillary, you can look forward to another unjust and unwinnable war in a volatile country that poses no threat to us at the moment. The oil companies are going to win if Obama loses, and there will be rioting in the streets of every American city when Hillary sends our youth off to die in Iran.

Mark my words.

McCain is a trustworthy fellow with experience and good judgement. He may be a Republican (*gasp!*), but at least he is a known quantity. I'm increasingly doubtful of the Clintons because they seem like they will say and do anything to get back into the Whitehouse.

Screw your party line politics.

it's naive to say Iran is not a threat.
Psst . . . young_Faustus . . . McCain is the

most famous flip-flopper in the republican party and a known crawler. Why do you think that most coservative republicans dispise the man and HELPED G.W. Bush destroy McCain's presidential bid in 2000?

So the intelligence agencies of the world are naive?

What do you think Iran is going to do anyway? If I was an Iranian I'd be terrified that the American bullies were going to pounce on me for the slightest transgression. We're looking for something to justify an invasion of Iran. The Iranians are trying as hard as they can to play nice so that they don't end up like Iraq.

Why do you think their president wanted to speak in New York City and make a pilgrimage to Ground Zero? He's sick and tired of American hawks painting him to be some kind of maniac when half of the things he's accused of saying are bogus. He wants the American people to see that he's not their enemy, that if we leave him alone he is perfectly willing to leave us alone in return.

What does he have to gain by starting a war against America? His country will end up a smoldering ruin and his people will be plunged into chaos and violence for god knows how many years. What does America have to gain from an invasion of Iran? Oil, but it will be paid for with blood, a more valuable and sacred commodity. America and Iran will both suffer so that the giants of the oil industry might prosper.

You really do not know, do you. I think I'll take my chances. Go, Hillary, lets see.
