The man's wishes the man's work
by ckelly

A dead mans wishes about his own work are a dead mans wishes about his own work. These should not be violated and its arrogant to assume otherwise. This is not the cure for cancer or something else that the future good of humanity depends upon. It is a work of literature. There are many, many great works never publically acknowleged or have yet to be created. His story "Laura" will fall back into the place of imagination where it will be born somewhere else. Designed in another way at another time.

Nabokov had his own reasons for the destruction of his last work. However speculative or sentimental we may be about the life of this man, it would harm his intergrity and his work to act otherwise.
