Bush's whale story !!!
by DrBillPhD

Our president has overruled a judge and the "Marine Mammal Act" passed by Congress to restrict Naval sonar operations because they where detrimental to whales and porpoises(blowing out their eardrums, causing brain damage etc.).

Do you agree with his decision, why?

Check. youtube <link> and www.hawaiionc.com

From what I've read, the Navy uses ULF (Ultra-Low-Frequency) in it's sonar. It does cause harm to marine life.

As much as I like animals, I have to agree with the president if it's going to protect our Navy and our country.

I know from personally experience that if that had that type of equipment was used during W.W. II, my uncle's destroyer wouldn't have been hit by an enemy sub.

My uncle lost a childhood friend during that incident. He was standing right next to his friend, just talking to him when the attack happened and his friend lost his head.

While I think it's a wonderful thing to do to protect animals, there are times where we have to draw the line between their safety and a human's safety.

I am trying to figure who our enemy is. What country has a naval force that we fear?

We live in a world of laws so why are grevances not taken to the Word Court?

What did those whales do to harm any humans; so who do we think we are to go around causing those magificant creatures great pain, so much so that they beach themselves. World opinion will not be with Bush. Empathy for God's creatures. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Talk about worrying about fetuses suffering; what about whales?

Protect our country. Who will protect our country from Bush and his evil sadistic mind ; for what he does is being painted for all Americans especially since Congress keeps going along with his evilness. Funny what "fear" and money will allow to happen; not funny. Bush want to portray us as a ruthless unfeeling entity I guess. Burn in hell Mr.Bush

I too like whales. However the nation's maritime defense should be a consderation. To my knowledge the Russians still maintain a submarine feet, as do the Chinese The Iranians are certainly capable of buying or building submarines, as are other potentially hostile nations.

Not to mention that incidents of piracy on the high seas are up, and that smuggling of drugs, contraband, or even weapons of mass destruction into the country is a potential risk to our national secuity. There is a need for undewater detection technology.

Very doubtful that Bush is doing this just for the sake of harming marine mammals. The world's fishing fleets are doing a far better job at this, with the Japanese at the fore front of the pack.

I don't like Bush any more than you do, but I also doubt that he was guilty of every crime perpetrated in the last 100 years. He was too young to have sank the Lusitania, was probably juiced or coked up when Kennedy was assassinated, could not have possibly aided in Hitler's rise to power, and did not let Monica give him head in the Oval Office. Now Condi may be a different story, but to date, no allegations of sich misconduct have come to light.

Now he may have killed Cock Robin. He may have snorted a line or two, got Cheney's shotun, ruthlessley stalked the poor bird and cold bloodedly zapped him. That crime still remains unsolved. Felony murder of birds is a serious crime which could result in impeachment.

Personally, I think Truthout dropped the ball on that one.

Unebug, all kidding aside, I feel bad for the whales as well. But national defense is a legitimate concern.

His Grandfathr financially supported the rise of Hitler. The apple does not fall far from the tree. I say that his attitude to the world before 9/11 played a part in what happened. His atttude about the World Court ,his attitude about Gloal Warming, his getting into the White House under such weird circumstances left the world disenfranchised. his attitude in general is Sick. This man is evil incarnant. Those whales do not harm people; Death for someones dinner is a far cry different than taking large sections of the whales habitat and making it into a death or torture chamber. I saw a neat program about a specie of Whale that has babies in Mexico. The whales use to attack humans because the humans would catch a baby and then go after the mother in the olden days. Now the whales are not treated this way and they are very friendly and encourage tourism there. They are not dumb animals.

<<<His Grandfathr financially supported the rise of Hitler.>>>

Well if that is the case there is a long list of Hitlerite sympathizers in the U.S. As well as the Soviet variety which were far more damaging to the U.S and still escape the same demonization of the Nazi's.

To say nothing of the fact that nobody really thought Hitler was that big of a threat until it was almost too late.

The same way the world thinks Mahmoud Ahmedinjad is a charming little statesman, the world dismissed Hitler as a harmless head of state.

The only difference between the two is Hitler was probably smarter, more popular, and more effectual at least early on.

Only the Nazi's never got very far with their nuclear program, nor did they have access to the nuclear 7-eleven aka A.Q Khan and the rest of the mass black market.

Or "Rent-a-Russkie".

That also traffics in weapons, drugs, counterfeit money, boot legged goods, poached, plundered items, am I missing anything?

Oh unebug and since our enemies are nonexistent we also have individuals who traffic in slaves often for sex and sometimes children. This problem I hear is larger than it has ever been. Of course the talk might be exaggerating that couldn't they?

Of course I mentioned AQ Khan who Pakistan refused to hand over for his scheduled waterboarding and enema, so no further mention of illicit nuclear procurment is needed.

Then again.

I've always told myself if they will traffic in human beings, surely they traffic nuclear material, and the only language they speak is money.

Here is a scene from Rob's favorite movie. I'm screwing with you. <link>

As for the whales. Yes I pity the whales, how I love them so.

I do really. I loved Star Trek IV. Very touching. It's real simple when we run out of whales, we hit the warp drive in our hijacked Klingon scout, sling shot around the sun, and we can always travel back in time to 1980's San Francisco to get us a couple of whales.

You know so you can like put them in a giant fish tank, and watch them screw.

And maybe we can transmit AIDS back to the 23rd century while were at it.

This debate has been going on since the cold war. The whales and use of sonar I mean.

The world has never been more dangerous.

Hey Barb, remember the Cuban Missile crisis?

It turns out we all sweated it for nothing.

There was no danger. The Soviet nukes?

The ones that weren't paper mache and wood, were duds.

Now the danger is real. We were just playing footsie with the Russkies for drama. It was like WWE.

That was all just for fun. Now the real fun starts.

America's homeland has largely escaped the horror of holocaust.

By virtue of the exponential population increase and bad karma the trend is not likely to continue.

Now with kamikazee Jihadis running around willing and able with the right toys?

Who knows? Maybe 9/11 will end up looking like "Don't tase me bro".

Maybe Prag is right, maybe there is something wrong with me.

Just relax and stay away from drugs of any sort unless you are diabetic or such. Stay away from caffeine too. I think you watch too much television or movies or video games, something. Slow down.

The Muslims are people also and they deserve some respect. There was something in Newsweek about we are meeting the power of the petro market and it does not give us strength when we are beholdened to the Arabs or anyone. I think Bush does not want to trade fair and square; he wants the power of the empire to take over so for us to get control of the oil we have to go to war and take it. After we bomb the begibbers out of them then we will let them give us contol of the oil as war reparations for the trouble they caused in Iraq. That sounds reasonable. The winner gets to set the terms. We were never held accountable in WW2 for the fire bombing of Dresden when thousands of civilians were killed. You didn't know about Prescot Bush??? Did you hear about the plot that was started by some capitalist before WW2 when they were going to take over Washington with some sort of Fascist government? I get Newsweek I should look it up.

A day after George W. Bush gave his big democracy speech and declared the opening of "a great new era … founded on the equality of all people"—a line he delivered at the astonishingly opulent Emirates Palace hotel, where most of the $2,450-a-night suites are reserved for visiting royals—the president flew to Saudi Arabia on Monday. There he planned to spend a day with King Abdullah at his ranch, where the monarch keeps 150 Arabian stallions for his pleasure, and thousands of goats and sheep "bred to feed the guests at the King's royal banquets," as the White House put it in the "press

I should slow down and double check; the story in Newsweek is not about the capitalist taking over Washington that came out maybe a year ago from the achieves; theNewsweek story is about the power of the Petro..

Does Tsuk talk too fast for you unebug? Maybe he should type slower next time, would that help? It would do you some good to ponder exactly what might happen if certain Middle Eastern countries who hate our guts did get a hold of nuclear bombs.

As for the whales, in addition to the problems dr. bill mentioned, it is not completely understood if sonar from the ships is what causes them to veer off course and beach themselves (at least last I read on this subject which was a few years ago). The very least the government could do is fund whale research and rescue programs if they can't restrict the use of sonar. That seems like a reasonable compromise for the times.
