Good Search
by me140
I'd just like to point out that Good Search is a legitimate, non-denominational resource for non-profits to be able to benefit from ad revenue on search engines. It is not the crazy, evangelical tool that Mr. Hitchens makes it out to be in his article. I work for an international development organization that has benefitted from the site and feel compelled to defend it from this misrepresentation. I hope that Mr. Hitchens can make a correction to the article or apologize to the folks at Good Search for his lack of research before characterizing.

"[I]ts home page includes a graphic link to a thing called Goodsearch—the name is surmounted with a halo in its logo—which announces cheerily that "Every time you search or shop online! Our Church earns money." "

Every thing in that statement appears to be factual with the exception of his interpretation of the announcement as cheery (and that is a comment on the TUCC link rather than Goodsearch itself. What needs to be corrected?

It's factually accurate, but Hitchens is employing it as evidence of how crazy the Church is - hence his mention of the halo over the Goodsearch logo.

I work for a very, very liberal, very, very secular organization and we get some money from Goodsearch.

Well, what's your organization?

Maybe I'll use Goodsearch so that they give you some money!

One other note: I don't think the reference to Goodsearch is meant to show that Trinity is crazy. I believe Hitchens is hinting at the possibility that the pot of Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. is not cracked at all and that his true motivation is getting as much money as possible into the pot.
