I don't know about that. The Republicans screwed things up so much in the past 8 years; if Obama gets the DNC nomination, he might have a fighting chance.

As far as his unfortunate middle name is concerned, it's not like he picked it himself. How many of us are embarassed by our middle names? I'm sure when his parents named him they didn't realize that he'd be entering politics and that they were giving him a name that would handicap him because it's identical to a person who 40 years in the future would be a persona non grata in the eyes of Americans.

I don't think it will be about his name..too much..but they probably will use that..but I think the GOP Hit Machine will do some sort of very slick, subtle fear mongering among racists against blacks, that will be deadly.

I hope not. But you know how vicious and effective the GOP is.

The only people stupid enough to base their vote on what the candidate's name is wouldn't vote for a Democrat under any circumstances.

So, we have to be realistic here. Frankly, a candidate like john edwards or even hillary clinton would have had a better chance.

I am black myself, but every year, democrats lose election because they do not know much.

Even if these unsupportable claims were true and Obama was a "closet Muslim," I still don't see why it matters. What's he gonna do, fly Air Force One into the White House? Blow himself up at the State of the Union Address?

If the Dems. go ahead & fall for this McGovern-esque foofaraw & nominate this trendy under-experienced Slick Professional Orator with so many clouds in his past history, then we (the DEMS) are just asking for it. It? TO LOSE AGAIN and to once again, foolishly & unnecessarily HAND an election which is ours to win, to the Repubs.

Nominating BO will be/could be the worst mistake the Dems. have made since nominating John Kerry. Btw, although you are prob. correct that the (Not so grand) GOP will do precisely that sort of semi-visible race fear-mongering, race has very little to do with it, at least in my mind. To me, it's all about the serious, almost dangerous, lack of seasoning and experience on BO's part. I'd vote for Andy Young or John Lewis in a flash. And would have for Colin Powell, if he had decided to run in 2000.
