Dear Prudie:

I think you were a little off with your response to "Frustated with Flatulence". I understand that passing gas, or belching on occassion happens without warning, and cannot be helped. Grown adults who continually pass gas and belch is very immature, not only disgusting.

If the wife has a problem with gas, she may have a medical problem which requires medical attention. Belching can be stopped, or at least quieted, in most cases.

These things during sex also happen on occassion, but continually, is not very romantic in my book.

It sounds like the wife needs to grow up and act like a lady, or seek medical help. A visit with a psychologist might not be a bad idea either

I agree completely; however, a few months ago a woman sent in a similar complaint about her husband who was constantly farting and belching, and Prudie declared that men are men and we should not complain about their noises. Like you, I wondered if the man had a gastrointestinal problem, or was simply consuming too many beans & beer suppers. I also wondered if he made such noises on the job.
