If Al Gore were to get into
by mrliberal
the race for the Democratic nomination, he would win it in 5 minutes. Tells u something about the "quality" of the Democratic front-runners, doesn't it!

I think a lot of people who did not vote for Gore in 2000, would like a chance to re-think that decision. With all the empty talk of who is "ready" to step into the oval office, he is the only one with any legitimate experience. But it is way too late for a Gore run at the White House in 2008. That ship has sailed. Besides, I think Al is really enjoying the view from the outside. You can be as critical as you want, without having to deliver anything. Sort of like posting on Slate.

Gore could not even win his home state in 2000. If the people that he and his father represented for years, the people who knew him best had voted for him he would have been President. When given the choice, they said no.

Please anyone reading this don't bother with the "he really won". He did not, please move on.

All this "Run Al Run!" stuff is insane. The best news for democrats in this election is that gore is staying on the sidelines. He has as much, if not more of the baggage that Hillary does. He's just as much a relic of the past, and past partisanship.

Sit Al, Sit.

On the one hand you say that Al Gore couldn't even win his home state in 2000, and on the other, you concede that he won the popular vote. You can't have it both ways.

"On the one hand you say that Al Gore couldn't even win his home state in 2000, and on the other, you concede that he won the popular vote. You can't have it both ways. " Huh? It actually was both ways, he won the popular vote lost the electoral college, if he had won his home state he would have had the electoral college votes to carry the election. He did not win his home state. It was in all the papers did you hear about it?

The point is that he would be the instant front-runner for the Dems if he decides to get in the race.

No.

This is what they said about Fred Thompson.

Very few people who contributed to Al Gore in 2000 would do so again. He ran a weak campaign then, ( not even able to win his home state ) they're not going to give him more money now.
Re: If Al Gore were to get into

He was strong enough to win the popular vote.
