Romney is more financially successful, better looking and smarter than each of his Republican rivals. What's not to dislike?

Romney is a corporate ghoul. His beliefs are determined by those who sign his paycheck. I'm a democrat, but I recognize that Huckabee, for example, is a true conviction politician.

Regarding the debate: it's not suprising that conviction politicians would loathe such an amoral sleazebag.

Ask yourself -- why is Romney running for president? What vision does he have for America?

All I see is a man who wants to be president because he's already been governor. A hollow man consumed by vain ambition.

Be serious. They hate him because he’s a Mormon. Did you miss the last month? McCain’s dottering mother? Huckster’s sly bigotry?

Talk about conviction. I think you make it obvious what lens you look through when it comes to your view of the world. Romney is a corporate ghoul? First, what on earth does that mean? Second, have you examined Romney's corporate background? My guess is that any figure who comes from a successful business background, especially in finance, would be a figure you automatically categorize as a "corporate ghoul." Just my guess.

And to say that Huckabee is a "conviction politician" is certainly not something that could be said after examining his record as governor. Huckabee is as political as they come, and it is all the more lamentable when he uses his religious convictions for political ends. At least Romney tries to keep his religion out of the debate. Say what you will, for all of his gee-whiz, aw-shucks, down home kind of posturing, Huckabee is as sly and politically calculating as any candidate on either side of the aisle right now. Convictions, please.

I agree with renr. You haven't stated why you think Romney is ghoulish and amoral, yet expect me and other readers to passively accept your statement as fact?

Ask yourself where you got those opinions, because I don't think you have specific reasons in mind.

Jealousy is a real pain for some. Huckabee is slimy and McCain has had plenty of chances to change Washington. Go Mitt! You've got it all!

Too bad he doesn't stand a chance. The american people have been educated on Mitt and his mormonism and what they really stand for. The effect that will have on the missionaries when they try and prey on people ignorance will be long lasting. Give it up mormons he is going to lose and lose bad.

I don't see Romney's Mormonism being that much of an issue to anyone except for the evangelical right. But that is a significant constituency in the Republican party.

Are you kidding me?!! You seriously think that if Romney were elected President that it would have some influence on when or how often missionaries knock on your door. What a ridiculous comment. I have not yet determined who I will be voting for - but if you think he will lose and "lose bad" you have not watched his numbers very closely. It appears it will be a tight race among the frontrunners - he being one of them.

No one has been able to come up with anything on Romney so they have to settle for hating him because his is financially successful, a true family man, and true to his religious convictions. Sometimes people who are immature and ignorant put labels on others that are really a reflection of themselves. Maybe that is whats going on here.

Have Romney and John Kerry ever been seen in public together? I am not certain they are two different people. I am certain neither can win a presidential election. No matter what disguise, Romney/Kerry still looks like lurch.

This is still not what I mean. Don't rely on the media to give you your opinion.

What would be helpful here would be a link to the actual law, or at least an id number. This way people can decide for themselves if they agree with Romney (fixing the spirit of the law) or USA Today (Romney is lying).

I will, however, research this for myself.
