God Bless Huckabee!
by Arlington
God bless Mike Huckabee. And may all the Godly voters rally around him and glorify him and tell all the voters how he will use the office of the presidency to impose Christian values on the unbelievers, the disbelievers, the non-believers and the blasphemous. May all voters everywhere know the glory of a truly Christian government in a Christian nation, with prayer in the schools, and no more abortion, and gays driven back into the closet, and censorship of those evil television shows, and many, many more good things. May God ensure Mike Huckabee gets the nomination.

God bless the thought of a Christian government in a Christian nation...however the true ideals of a real Christian do not include judging others. We were placed here to love and tolerate one another. God is our only judge.

I do hope that Huckabee will provide a way to a pro-life nation and of course that Christian values-which our country was founded upon-will find a more secure place in society. I'm afraid that Guliani will never admit openly that he is pro-choice, but will continue to mask his true feelings with promises of educational processes to reduce abortions...as if sex ed has helped us reduce the number of abortions as it is.

The best thing for all people in this nation would include being led by someone that has a clear mind and set goals for our country. I truly hope his image does not become marred by ignorant people blathering on in judgemental hypocrisy that they hide under a cloak of Christianity.

In no way is America founded on Christian principles, but rather Greco-Roman political philosophy revived during the Renaissance and the Enlightenment—a time in which, not coincidentally, the Church's stranglehold on the social and intellectual freedom of Western Civilization finally began to slip. Most of the Founding Fathers were Deists; an Enlightenment quasi-religion which bears only a superficial resemblance to Christianity.

Don't believe me? Open up your Bible and turn to the passage about democracy. Oh, I'll make it easier. Turn to a passage about any form of representative legislative government. Oh? Can't find any? Not even one?

I rest my case.

However, there is Romans 13:1-6, which explains in detail why the rule of a king is never to be challenged. By that passage, the American Revolution was a direct attack on God's authority. So be it, says I.

Personally, as a true child of the Enlightenment, I'm too fond of my own social and intellectual freedom to want yet another religious zealot in the White House. Didn't the one we have now do enough damage? No more backsliding into medievalism, please. Have your faith, follow the spiritual path you choose and practice it as fervently as you wish. I swear that I will never challenge your right to do these things of your own free will. But if you attempt to force your faith on me, as you Christians have the unfortunate tendency to do whenever you have power, then it's war.

Hint, the top poster was being somewhat sarcastic, somewhat supercilious and hardly serious

I'm aware of that. However, ladyannmarie wasn't. :-)

Do you really want a president who thinks the earth is less than 10,000 old ?

Who does not believe in Evolution ?

I'm much more worried about his his economic ignorance. My mouth drops open in amazement every time he opens his. His foreign policies also make me wince. Bush at least had an MBA.

I put his non-believe in Evolution at the same level as his various ethical problems and his letting serial rapests loose if they convert; although they're problems they're unlikely to be a problems for me personally.
