Who cares?
by Arlington

When the San Francisco fans talk to the TeeVee news reporters, they say it doesn't matter whether or not Barry Bonds took steroids. He's theirs and they love him. They don't care. They'd care if Barry Bonds played for some other team. I'm sure fans of other teams think it's just horrible that Bonds' record may be tainted, but they'd defend their own sluggers' records regardless of any asterisks.

I don't understand fan motivation. How can they be disturbed by cheating on all other teans except their own? Shouldn't they be more upset if one of their own used steroids or HGH? How is this any different than Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe Jackson?

Oh, wait a minute. Betting on games and shaving points doesn't produce spectacular records. Steroid use results in new home run records and much excitement. If it feels good, do it.

If it makes you feel any better Mark McGuire lost most of his fan support after he chose to give nothing but non answers to congress during the original tesitiomony regarding baseball doping.

Even though the only drugs he ever admitted to using were legal when he used them, the implications of his non answers were enough for most St. Louis Cardinal fans to go cold on their once beloved hero.

Personally I like the fundamental games with a lot of base stealing speed, bunts and hit and runs. Pitching duals and squeeze plays along with stellar defense. If a person wants to sit around and wait for home runs then yes baseball can be a very boring sport. but if you know the game and what to watch for from an exciting team then its far better and more active than football.
