Hitchins is MSN's Adolf Hitler
by vegasmattador

EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD NEEDS TO TELL MSN TO FIRE CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS!

Why? Because he spreads hatred and intolerance. If Hitchens had his way, the Baptists and Mormons would be literally killing each other while secularists like him stand on the sideline laughing it up and cheering.

Seriously, everyone tell MSN what you think about Christopher Hitchens and his "Hitler-esque" style of writing. There is no reason for a supposedly reputable news organization to print or promote this type of 19th century KKK trash.

If you want them to hear you, then email the following:

frayeditor@slate.com

Maybe with enough support, we can get rid of this neo-nazi.

The pope and GWB are a lot more Hitler-esque than Hitchins. Grow up and become a secularist. It is religious people that are full of hate.

YEAH! I think he even mentioned evolution once or twice in some articles. BURN THE FUCKER AT THE STAKE, that's what I say!

Why would I tell MSN, or anyone for that matter, to get rid of Hitchens? He's only speaking his mind, and I happen to agree with him.

I love when the religious freaks cry foul like this; it's like when one person attacks another and then is punched in the face in return, and then proceeds to proclaim assault. Hilarious--and sad.

Hitchins is not "Hitler-esque". He is not advocating genocide. He is not advocating world war. And he is not advocating the supression of any of the freedoms we hold dear. What he is doing is warning us of what is at risk if we continue to ignore the concerted attacks on reason that have been maintained by God besotted fools like Huckabee and his ilk. In an open society there is absolutely nothing wrong with advocating the rejection of a politician because one finds his personal beliefs revolting. I just wish more people found the ignorant babblings of people like Huckabee and the gross oportunism and hypocrisy of people like Romey as disgusting as Hitchins does.

Y et again another reason to believe (reason #152,648)that christian "true believers are a threat to all life on this planet.not to mention the concept of free thought.

errr, the Washington Post owns Slate.

And, furthermore, sending complaints to the Geoffrey Anderson, the Fray editor, will only further frustrate him in job as monitoring the doleful message board.

What a Maroon ! Did somebody once tell you a scary story about a wewy scawy cweature named Hitler ? You apparently don't know Jack Shit about who he was and what he represented. BTW, it's M-a-t-a-d-o-r. You identify with Vegas? That's really sad.

Freedom of speech. Bud.

Anyone who can get up enough dough to run for office doesn't neccessarily have the "right stuff" to do the job.

When it is politically correct to split hairs while giving a not so straight answer to a simple question, we are entitled to fill in the "gray area" with whatever options these vague answers might offer. In the case of religions, we must assume whatever is the known religious edict might be the real answer or a guide to it.

In any case, if a lawyer can't stay in office long then a religious lawyer doesn't have any better a chance. Thats assuming his religion allows him to lie about it in order to further it thus making his/ her religion moot and being a lawyer the real danger.

I appreciate the ardor...

But sending me your complaints won't help with anything but taking the load off your chest. As for Hitchens' job-security, I can say in his defense that even when he's abhorrently wrong, he's provocative in a way that brings out the best in many of his readers.

Admittedly, he brings out the worst too. I find the weekly litany of "shut that tired drunk up" posts tiresome.

But from where I sit, he sparks substantive discussions in a way few other Slate writers can. Perhaps a small virtue, but one that I accord a disproportionate weight.

I'm glad to hear those sentiments from Slate. I second them without reservation!

I agree with those sentiments also. Since I 'discovered' Mr. Hitchens he has been a delight to read (and argue with on ,any occassions). He had been writing in almost obscure journals (to me) with small circulation among the general public, like the Atlantic Monthly or The Nation ( I never find these journals in waiting rooms). Its great to see him published on Slate, where he is much more accessible and I can enjoy many more of his usully witty and thought provoking essays.

vegasmattador is a prime example of why the religious nuts scare me! They all want to tell other people what to do, how to think, what to say according to THEIR beliefs. If mattador had HIS way the Baptists and Mormons WOULD be killing each other! Intolerance is the first and primary lesson of ALL religions!
