Dan O'Bannon had fast zombies in 1985. Take, for example, the scene progression where they first overwhelm the EMT's ("send more paramedics" - zombies could talk, too!), then the cops, then the military. Dunno why folks always overlook this film and think Boyle created fast zombies...
