Really going out on a limb here...

This article is filled with unadventurous--and painfully main stream--songs, artists and albums. I can imagine the thought process that went on while compiling these lists...
"Gee, what two artists got the most Grammy nominations? Kayne and Winehouse? I'll fill my lists with their stuff."
That is so cutting edge it couldn't get through melting butter. How about this one...
"What's that band with the catchy song on the Apple Mini ad? Feist? I'll use them too."
They've been around for years. Where have you been?
What about intelligent songs like the work of Gomez front-man Ian Ball and his brilliant album "Who Goes There." Or hardworking bands with breakthrough albums like "Roses and Clover" from Animal Liberation Orchestra.
Turn off Clear Channel--bastion of safe and manufactured artists and music--and find something that is genuine and meaningful. Like Sean Kelly of the Samples sings, "The real music is being played in basements underground."
