Right artist, wrong song
by Larry

Any idiot knows that Mitchell's masterpiece (full of masterpieces) is Blue. Bob Dylan got that right, even if this author has the wrong cluster wiring.

Blue has All I Want, A Case Of You (a road song, too) River, California, and more. Any of these and actually, most of the others engenders neverending bliss no matter how many times it hits your ears. Gives me shivers to think of hearing it again.

I am surprised that Amelia even makes it onto the radar when people are thinking about her best stuff. Nice, lazy ballad, but I can't even put it in her top twenty.

Not sure how I feel about the article, but it did prompt me to immediately download Blue from iTunes. It's a lovely song, but I think the others are correct in saying that she has many more that are even better.

I particularly love the Hejira and Dreamland albums. Song for Sharon and Furry Sings the Blues are absolutely magical to me.

Joni Mitchell is one of those artists for whom picking a single "best" song is somewhat futile, simply because there are so many surpassingly excellent ones and also because her albums are works of art greater than the sum of their parts.

The musicianship of Mitchell and her supporting cast is nothing short of extraordinary!

I've had the same experience this author has, only with the title song from that same album Hejira.
