"Jesus is my Lord and savior" "Democracy could not survive without Christianity and Christinaity could not survive without Democracy".
Wow, thats great to know. However, its not true.
Since Rommey, his five sons nor any of his familiy have EVER fought in any conflict protecting American Democracy, how can he state that he can speak for American Christians? How about the Jews, Muslims, Southern Babtist, Methodist, Buddest, Taoist etc who have actually fought for American democracy in foreign lands? There are many non-Mormans who fought and died for his right not to serve in the military and pray as he seems fit.
Few if any individuals from the Morman religion have ever fought for Democracy. They are the support troops. When individuals of other faiths bled for Democracy, his fellow Mormans stayed on the sidelines and cheered the troops while rarely leaving Utah.
The Mormans have fought wars however. They massacred Americans in the mid 19th century who wanted to live in Utah that weren't Mormans. They were Christians who didn't believe in Reverend Smith's philosphy of multiply marriages, women as chattel and that only a limited number of individuals (all Mormans of course) could go to heaven.
So, we now know that Mormans will fight. They WILL NOT, nor will they ever, fight in wars for Democracy. The only wars they fight are ones such as the one where they tricked Christians to give up their arms (Reverend Smith promished no harm would come to them if they disarmed and left Utah)for safe passages through Utah and murdered them in mass.
So, the Mormans will fight for Jesus Christ (their Jesus Christ). History has shown us that Mormans are intollerent of other religions including Christians if they don't believe Morman doctrine.
Cults like the Mormans normally don't last long. That is of course under they use force of arms to inforce their religion.
Today Mormans are far more tolerant of other religions. In fact, I have the strongest respect for them and their beliefs.
However, Jesus does not need (American) Democracy to survive and (American) Democracy does not need Jesus to survive (as described by Rommey).
Another problem that Rommey didn't address is that Democracies are in many cases not Christians. The quasi-state of Palastine (sp), Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and many non-Christians nations are Democracies. Their Democracies are simple different from ours.
I resent adamently Rommey using his religion that has never fought any battles to support American Democracy and use it as a baselline for his defense of Mormanism.
Mr. Rommey please use your policies as your baseline rather than get the ignorant to beleive that you actually believe that American is free because of 'your" Jesus Christ.
You sir, have crossed the line between Church and State, and I for one resent it.
I have two Purple Hearts. I fought for my country. I personally saw individuals of other religions fight and die to defend your right not to fight.
If you actually believe what you say, have your five sons inlist in the military and fight someone other than non-armed civilians.
Respectfully,
