Piers Anthony
by neglekted

A smut peddler for young boys and girls alike, Piers Anthony can probably give Miss Andrews and pseudonymous pretenders alike a run for their money. The Cluster series had lots of alien sex. Firefly makes an earnest plea in favor of pedophilia. And a book who's title eludes me had a scene where girls on a playground pass a lollypop around and stick it in their nether regions.

Read all this at the age of twelve, thirteen...

I read the incredibly sexual Xanth Series from the age of 12-14. I went back and reread a book that had overt sexuality and realized how tame it was in retrospect. I was just a boy with budding interest that it all seemed so new and titilating. I inevitably consider it good as it kept me reading and the titles had some imagination up until the 9 or 10th books. Anthony is not one for the ages, but not as sexual as I once thought.

Gloomy, depressing and systematically violating practically every sexual taboo there is short of necrophilia and homosexuality.

It definitely got my attention as a teenager. More so than the Xanth books.

I think that you need to get out more often

I associate Piers Anthony with wild punning more than wild sex.

Sex and fantasy/SiFi has always been uneasy bedfellows. Especially since much of the dross is particularly aimed at a male teenage audience. There's always the dilemmar; do you chop off the demon maiden's head or her maidenhead?

And then there's all those luird covers, promising more than the book ever delivers. Would you really go into battle with such a big chopper but so few clothes?

As for smut.Just as well that you never came across nanny Ogg.
